To finish off international composting we want to say a BIG thank-you to YOU! In 2019 we took 365 tonnes of fish morts, 1,000 tonnes of food waste, and 1,270 tonnes of biosolids. Thats 2,635 tonnes of material that would have otherwise gone to the landfill! Thank-you so much for supporting us here at Salish Soils and the circular economy by buying our finished product that was composted and created here on the Sunshine Coast
Heres my garden each year adding a few more beds with Salish Garden Mix . In spring, I add a few bags of Fish Compost to beds that are needing fresh nutrients. If you have any questions about soul application, come see us . We love where we work , and live our customers . Have a lovely day
Composting Fun Facts Continued Ever wonder what happens when row product comes onto our site? Here's a diagram for you!
Composting Fun Facts continued- *What we do for Quality Control* All of our compost that we create here at Salish Soils follows the Organic Matter Recycling Regulation of BC or OMRR. That means every single one of our raw compost materials including the fish morts, food waste, and biosolids, has to meet strict temperature requirements during the composting phase and has to pass stringent testing for thermotolerant coliform and metals.... We also voluntarily test our batches of compost for primary and secondary nutrients to ensure your plants flourish every time you buy our compost Want to see our test results, just ask!
**Compost Fun Facts Continued** Salish Soils assisted in composting a dead orca that was found off the trail islands in 2016 . The orca decomposed for 9 months at Salish Soils and was then transported to and reconstructed by Mike de Roos of Cetacea Contracting Ltd. The orca is now on display at the Shíshálh Nation museum, way to go for composting!

All aspects of our business are open during regular business hours. Please see below for an overview for our procedures.... Soil Sales: You can come pay at the front office in person. If you would like to buy product by pail you are asked to bring your own pails and shovels and ask that you do not borrow our shovels at this time. Really excited about about this product as it is the only product which is completely made on the sunshine coast. The second is a Premium Fir Mulch which we have brought in from the city. If you want a fancy mulch look no further! Screened to 1 inch and has a nice brown look, great for spots you wan...t looking really manicured Any questions about either of these feel free to ask
We have seen an influx of people coming to our recycling, don't fret we are considered an essential service and don't plan on shutting down, so please try to limit your trips as much as possible to encourage social distancing Since we are only allowing 2 people in the recycling area at one time please sort your recyclables before coming, this allows for minimum waiting for your fellow residents as they too try to do their recycling ... Here's how I do it at home, with the sorterra containers from ikea, does anyone else have any great ways of sorting their recycling before coming?? Stay safe and recycle on
