Due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the problems associated the camp being properly cleaned and disinfected to meet all pandemic guidelines we are not taking reservation for the remainder of 2020. Depending upon circumstances we may resume doing so in 2021 but we are asking that you not call or write to inquire about 2021 at this time. We will update this page as conditions change. We are sorry and hope our friends understand.
It is with great sadness that I am writing to let you know that our legendary former camp cook, deerslayer, friend and extraordinary woman, Isobel Wood has passed away. Isobel was our cook for the deer hunt for many years and was know for her wonderful meals, tasty deserts and home made jams. She was also a dead eye shot even stopping on her way home from the hunt one year to borrow some bullets from Wolf Lake in order to poach a deer from their back yard. The Cook's Watch is named after her. Our deepest sympathies go out to her son and Salmond's member Larry Wood. Larry, you and your mom will be in our thoughts and prayers and your mom forever part of our stories and memories.
Bob, who we all called Magoo, was a great friend and one of the nicest people you could ever know. If you needed something and Bob had it, it was yours. If he didn't have it he would get it for you. A skilled hunter, fisherman and lover of the outdoors, Bob was the kind of guy you could learn a lot from. The woods and lakes around Salmond's camp will seem empty without him. Knowing him and spending time with him was one of the greatest pleasures of my life. He leaves a hole in our hearts.
I can not recall who posted the old photo of the dam upstream from Salmond's last week but here is a painting from about the same point of view done by Christine Peltzer. (prints may be available upon request)
Due to the Covid 19 pandemic all 2020 reservations are cancelled between now and August, 2020. No new reservations are being accepted at this time. We hope our friends understand that we will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so. Stay safe, we want to see our friend and guests again when this is over!
