With some careful protocols in place, we were happy to continue our Canada Day tradition of performing outdoors this year. Thanks to Margo Milton for these pics of band and audience
Bandemonium today for Canada Day!
We are lucky enough to have been able to use Fulford Hall, a lovely big hall here on Salt Spring Island. There was a bit of a delay from the percussion section, but we figured it out. Getting ready for July 1, Canada Day! A concert in a great big field! Now we have to figure out a big rehearsal space for the Fall.
We have had some rehearsals, measured six feet between all of us, so we cover a lot of space! It sure is fun to get together again, we couldn’t stand the idea of Canada Day passing without our traditional outdoor concert.
On July 1 - AT 11:30am! - our pop-up concert will happen in the Hydro field "as usual" (but without the car show.) Lots of familiar favourites with a responsibly-distanced band - feels good to perform together again! Swing Shift will continue the program after our 12:00 playing of O Canada. If you join us, please have a face mask available if physical distancing isn't possible, and perhaps a lawn chair...
Thanks to Fulford Hall and some careful measuring by Doc Milton, we were able to have a socially distanced band rehearsal last night! p.s. We love Fulford Hall!
This is what board meetings look like now. The Bandemonium Board met last night - even more spaced-out than usual - to scheme and plot. Their mission? BRING BACK BAND! Stay tuned...
Fingers crossed!
