SALTISE 18.11.2020

Now, that's how you catch students' attentions! :-) Our colleague @Yann Brouillette, as a SALTISE member, understands the importance of both motivating students as well as having them engage with the content in meaningful ways. Check out more about Yann, both the chemistry teacher as well as the #learning scientists who designs evidence-informed instruction that is supported by innovative educational technologies. He's not afraid to be a trailblazer in the field of science teaching in higher education.

Is this something SALTISE can learn from? We definitely should read the article and discuss how it might help unpack why some communities of learners (or communities of practice) can thrive and help disseminate pedagogical innovations and why others do not. In fact, this would be a great topic at the next SALTISE conference in 2021 :-)

NEW FEATURES IN myDALITE! myDALITE is a free online platform that provides students with a rich asynchronous learning experience modeled on the highly successful Peer Instruction method, made popular by Harvard professor, Eric Mazur, and based on solid research. If you’re not familiar with myDALITE, we encourage you to check it out - https://mydalite.org/en/ - especially now with its updated features: : Equivalent to a "course pack" of curated multiple-choice q...uestions, Collections can consist of an entire semester's worth of course material on a single topic. They allow teachers to group assignments that can be (1) shared between colleagues and (2) easily assigned to students in your classes. : We have significantly improved the search function. The browse database page now supports detailed search filtering by disciplines, subjects, and categories, as well as by question author(s), and co-author(s). The latter increases the potential of collaborations between colleagues from the same or even different institutions. Teachers may now also use this page to search myDALITE’s database for Collections made by other colleagues. : More variety to the student review page. When students are prompted to reconsider their answer, they will see an improved interface where they can explore a greater variety of their peers' explanations
