Bhagavad Gita verse of the week: Chapter 5, Verse 18 The wise look with an equal eye on a brhmaa endowed with learning and humility, on an outcaste, on a cow, on an elephant and even on a dog.... Babaji's partial commentary: This does not mean the wise person’s dealings with a learned brhmaa and a dog will be without distinction, but rather that the Self-realized person sees the same divine spirit in all. A necklace and an anklet are both made from the same gold, but they each have a separate place to be worn on the body. An anklet will not be used as a necklace, nor will a necklace be worn as an anklet. Likewise a brhmaa will be respected for wisdom and take a proper place in societal functions, whereas a dog will be chained outside in its proper place. Although the divine essence in both is the same, they are dealt with and employed with distinction.
Bhagavad Gita verse of the week: Chapter 5, VERSE 12 The steady-minded, having abandoned the fruit of action, attains everlasting peace. The unsteady-minded, impelled by desire and attached to the fruit, is bound.... Babaji's partial commentary: A karma yogi renounces the desire to attain the fruit of the action that is being performed. This removes all mental anxieties such as fear, greed, and attachment. As a result, the karma yogi becomes contented and perfectly poised, and attains everlasting peace. In contrast, the unsteady-minded who performs action with self-interest remains attached to the action, and to the expectation for the fruit of action. This creates mental anxieties, discontent, fear, and greed, and such people bind themselves by their relationship to their own selfish actions.
Bhagavad Gita verse of the week: Chapter 4, Verse 42: Therefore, O Arjuna, with the sword of knowledge cut to pieces the doubt in your heart born of ignorance, take refuge in yoga, and stand up to fight.... Babaji's partial commentary: The Lord orders Arjuna to get up and fight. Any person who is seeking Self-knowledge should get up and practice yoga in the form of the twelve sacrifices because supreme peace is attained only by spiritual practice.

Bhagavad Gita verse of the week: Chapter 5, Verse 7. One who is devoted to the path of action, having conquered the mind and subdued [the tendency to indulge in] the senses, whose heart is pure, who realizes the Self in oneself as the Self in all beings, even though acting, remains untainted.... Babaji's partial commentary: When a yogi is freed from attraction and desire for sensual objects, and also freed from the sentiments and emotions that are obstacles in meditation, the yogi’s mind automatically dwells in the meditative state. In that unobstructed state, the ego breaks its barriers and discovers itself in the Self, and sees that same Self in everything everywhere. Bhagavad Gita Verse of the week: Chapter 4, Verse 22: Content with whatever comes without desiring, free from the pairs of opposites and envy, even-minded in success and failure, though acting, the yogi is not bound.... Babaji's (partial) commentary: In success it is the ego that is inflated by feeling joy as a winner, while in failure it is the ego that is deflated by feeling miserable as a loser. When the ego is replaced by self-awareness, a yogi develops equanimity of the mind in both success and failure.

Q: What is the purpose of life? Why are we here? A: To find God. To love God is man's natural state. Q: Is it possible for anyone here to get enlightenment in this lifetime? A: The state is already there; it needs to be awakened.... -Baba Hari Dass As always, our thanks to Sudha for sharing Babaji's wonderful teachings through the Baba Hari Dass (Babaji) Facebook group.
Attention yoga theory enthusiasts! Our sister centre, Mount Madonna Center has extended the invitation to join their Yoga Sutra class. The weekly Yoga Sutra Class is starting over from the beginning, something that only happens every 4-5 years!
