Tough days out there, #Ottawa. As we are working on our February tenant newsletter, we came across this submission we wanted to share now since we are hearing that so many of our friends and neighbours are struggling with #mentalhealth. Thank you for submitting it, *Kathy. "There is stress in everyday living from the beginning of life. Some are good, like harnessing your energy to work productively and solving problems that crop up every day. However, undue stress can build up and can be a negative influence on our health. Here are five stress-busters to get rid of unwanted stress." - Kathy, Salus Client

Today is International Stress Awareness Day, and we wanted to take a moment to highlight the caring work of our staff at Salus to help our clients. In addition to the work that they are doing to support their clients meet their individual recovery goals during these difficult times, they are always looking for creative ways to help clients manage stress and other symptoms of mental illness. In our monthly tenant newsletter, some members of our staff have come forward to share... handy tools that they have found helpful for their clients. For example, Case Manager Rosa launched a new column called Little Tech Corner, which is a helpful resource which showcases FREE and easy-to-use apps and tech each month. In next month’s issue, Case Manager Isabelle will launch her new monthly column which will shine a spotlight on helpful local resources. Thanks Rosa and Isabelle, for connecting us with your handy tips and resources! In the meantime, here’s a practical resource on managing stress: https://buff.ly/2OvVDKg #InternationalStressAwarenessDay #stressawareness #StressAwarenessOttawa #mentalhealthOttawa

#TBT Remember when we were able to gather together in person? On this Throwback Thursday, we are fondly remembering a very special evening spent with friends of Salus: Brenda Pichette and Patty Freel and family. Exploring Mental Illness and Stigma was an important event planned by Brenda and Patty in support of Ottawa Salus and The Royal Foundation. We were delighted to have the support of Bell Let’s Talk for this important evening which brought together speakers and authors Sharon Johnston, Susan Doherty, Jason Finucan, and Dr. Nicola Wright to talk about the impact of living with or caring for someone with mental illness. Thank you once again, Brenda and Patty, for planning this wonderful fundraiser! #bellletstalk #TheRoyal #mentalhealth #tbt
