After getting skunked 2 days ago I was hungry to shoot some surf. Not being able to be in the water is always a bit of a bummer but when I rolled up beside Larry at the red light I was stoked to just get out and shoot with a friend. Dropping temps may be bringing an end to the season but I was happy I could capture a few slushy ones yesterday! @surfdreamscanada

Thanks for coming on this photo journey with me friends! Having the opportunity to shoot in Hawaii was life changing. My water back home may be completely different but I still love it. Less danger of hold downs and strong rips replaced by temperatures that try to numb your mind, body and gear. If it’s not a challenge, it’s not worth it. I’m already excited about the opportunities coming up close to home and I’m starting the planning process for future opportunities down south when the world allows. Happy Wednesday!

@oceah_oceah charging at Sunset. I remember taking this one on the head but it was worth it! Women have always been a strong focus in my portrait work but in my surf work it tends to be unintentionally male dominated. In surf we are often fed with men shredding and women modelling the attire and I think we are getting it twisted. There are so many incredible female riders out there shredding the exact same spots and putting in just as much if not more work on their craft. WSL finally introduced equitable pay for their competitions but I think we can do better with equitable representation in media as well.

@koarothman at Backdoor/Pipeline I wasn’t ready to swim out at this break yet. I think that’s definitely an opportunity that needs to be earned. I’ll be back ; ).

I dream of shooting in California or Hawaii every day. Not because I’m afraid of the cold but because I know it’s where I’m meant to be one day. It’s what drives me every time I load up my gear and head to the water. Thank you Great Lakes for being my hometown playground. Your wave intervals and temperature are second to none and I love you
