But hey, the great thing about this space is you can technically use it all year long. Nothing better than roasting hot dogs and sipping hot chocolate after a good old fashioned toboggan party! ... Huge shoutout to @sandstone.masonry for taking on this Spanish inspired fireplace project. The whole unit is constructed of masonry - cement blocks (yes, you’re thinking correctly - it’s really heavy!). There are screw piles underneath to support the weight. Blocks are stacked one at a time to create the outline, then we sheeted and textured to create the plaster effect. One of @sandstonejay and @megzysands absolute favourites! Repost! @havenbuilders This shot right here marks an important milestone in our design journey - when our love of archways began. ... After our first design reveal on this project it was clear that the space was too modern and our clients wanted more character. That’s when the ‘Spanish Colonial’ lightbulb moment occurred, quickly followed by the realization - this dining room needs layers, texture, it needs to tell a story. The intention was to add this nook that was brand new but looked 100 years old, like it had always been there. Installing the over-grouted stone was a first for us and @sandstone.masonry and we are so happy with how it turned out. The crisp clean archway contrasts perfectly with the @dovetailfurniture sideboard from @anthologyhomecollection.
