Time to meet my herd! The herd starts with Fred. At 21 years old, he's a youngin' at heart but takes on the job as boss man. In a regular wild horse herd an older mare is always the leader but Fred fills this position well. Next comes Starsky. Fred's little sidekick. At 11 years old and almost reaching my hip with his withers, he relies on Fred for confidence. Starsky used to be very shy and weary of people and has since really come out of his shell and even tries to boss t...he big horses around when Fred is busy eating ! He also does a great job of taking care of our younger students. Then we have Janet. At roughly 30 years old she's the oldest horse in the herd. Here to live the rest of her life out at the farm, she loves Fred and looks to him for comfort and protection from the other ladies in the herd. She looks forward to her sloppy dinner and cuddles. Finally for personal horses is Dixie. This 18 year old girl was a lesson horse before and lovessss being fussed over. Brought home for multiple reasons, she has been great for my mom who had a stroke years ago and struggles with her balance and confidence. Hay there! We are officially a registered and running boarding business ! Sandy Acres Stables is a small but expanding farm just 10 minutes from the town of Burksfalls owned and operated by Jessica Lawrenson. ... On 100 acres of forest that is slowly being cleared to accommodate my dream, we have lovely trails great for hacking and a riding ring that will be built before boarding is available. My goal is to provide a friendly atmosphere that is peaceful and easy going. I hope to be ready to offer outdoor boarding summer of 2020 but will keep updates coming as the work progresses!
