Picnic tables and benches will be removed from the beach this week. It is now hurricane season and twice in the last 10 days, we have had to go down and save the tables from washing away. First time we had to save 9 and this time 7. They were completely underwater and we had to use a gaff to retrieve them. Time to put them away for another season. Sorry for any inconvenience. Pics are not of Sandy Cove ( i forgot the camera) but it will give you an idea. Ours were even further underwater

People are reminded that if they plan on putting a camper down the old road( permanently), they need to get permission from the council before proceeding.

It is time for everyone to start taking action. Take back the beach...lol If you see something happening in Sandy Cove that shouldn't be. take pics, take video's, take plate #'s. It will be delt with. We did up Sandy Cove so families could go enjoy it not be afraid to go there because trucks and bikes are going mad. Party all you like but use common sense, don't go mad, don't break up bottles . just be responsible

UPDATE..... The committee has involved the RCMP in regards to the picnic tables being broken, the ATVs and trucks going mad and tearing up the ground. We do know who done it. We had 2 names and they came forward and gave us the third who was in the dark truck. The young men who admitted it, came forward and are paying for the damage. I will say that I was impressed that their mother called me and was very upset her sons were involved. Apparently they backed over the picnic table by accident. Either way it is being replaced. These are not children, these are grown men in their 20's so they should have better sense. There is absolutely no need. They would not want someone vandalizing their property so the community does not want their property abused.

This was just sent to me......Margaret we were down to Sandy Cove the evening before last for a ride & I was shocked at what was going on...there was a black truck there driving mad across the sand & doing doughnuts around & around the sand ...the beach looked a mess with all the tire tracks. He even drove over the grass where the cows used to be & did them there also tearing up the land & drove up over the grassy hill going mad not on the path at all. There were also 2 white trucks over by the little pond & 1 0f them was trying to do the same thing.I tried to take a video but I was not very good at it so it didn't work.I was totally disgusted. anyone know the owners of the trucks.

Sandy Cove is even more beautiful today than it was yesterday. Mr Calvin Stacey (carpenter) ,and his brother Nelson delivered this gorgeous harvest table and 2 flower benches in memory of their brother Gary who passed away last month. They told us Gary loved Sandy Cove and they wanted to do something to honor that. Thank you so much from everyone who enjoy the beauty of Sandy Cove

Over the next week or so, the Sandy Cove committee will be selling Grand up for Grabs tickets. They will be $10 each and of course the prize is $1000. The proceeds will go towards building a gazebo and finishing the rail on the stage. If Anyone would like to help us sell some it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your support

Speaking for myself and not the committee, I thought the committee was developed to repair the trail aka the old road, to make it accessible for all, Install picnic tables and stuff and just overall, make Sandy Cove what it should be, a beautiful place for families to go and relax. In my opinion though, it seems the committee is more responsible for the upkeep of the road than anything else. In my opinion, not the committees, I don't think it is fair for 3 or 4 people to have... to raise funds for upkeep when there are more and more people using Sandy Cove and have trailers down there, us included. Maybe we should do what they do in Round about and have a cabins association who are responsible for their own fundraising and cabin fees. I for one am stepping down from the committee, but with that being said I will surely help with Sandy Cove Day in any way I can. That's what the committee was organized for. I am proud of what we have accomplished and hope it continues. See more

question?? can you sell tickets for $10 and the prize be $1000 but not necessarily just sell 200 tickets. prize would be the same but the more tickets we could sell the better

If you drive down the trail aka the old road, you will notice some work has been done on the potholes and stuff. It was the best we can do with what is left of the road. By rights we need about 100 loads of fill to build the road back up again and at $400 a load, well what can we say. Major fundraising don't seem to be a good idea with everything that's on the go.

Looking for suggestions!!! Anyone have an ideas that we could implement that would make the use of Sandy Cove more Covid 19 friendly? One idea I had was to enhance the picnic areas in the woods for individual family use. Any more????

Now that the weather is a bit better, people are starting to use the picnic tables and benches, that is what they are for. All we ask is that before you go home, can you please put them back up past high water mark. Over by the Brook, put them close to the big rock, the other ones up to the middle of the beach. We almost lost 3 last week. Thanks in advance for your help.

Well it's out of our control and we have no other choice. Sandy Cove Day 2020 is cancelled. We know this is only April but predictions are it could be like this till November or later and even if it did change quickly, we would not have time to organize everything. Everyone please stay safe, stay in your bubble and don't burst someone else's.
