February is heart month. It was Valentines day 4 years ago that I decided to give myself a" love me" gift. One that changed my life forever. It was the gift of health and wellness. I didn't think, I just did, one day at a time. I started walking every day, strength training twice a week and eating real food, no diets. My trainer Jie, helped me with every step. As you search through Facebook, twitter or Instagram, you will notice the incredible amount of fitness programs and apps. It is confusing and difficult trying to decide which one to choose, which one will be best for you, which one will help you set and meet your goals? Which ones are safe? Some boast strength gains through challenges, or diet plans to lose weight quickly. Some will take your money and point you to an app, with no follow up or support. Some are complete...ly unrealistic with long-term damaging effects. We waste money and time on programs that over promise and under deliver. My program is all about you. We will meet through live one-on-one video to discuss what you would like to accomplish. Together we will set realistic goals and come up with a plan. Before we start any program though, through live video, I will do an informed assessment of your unique body movements and muscle use patterns. This will reveal any habitual, learned compensation movement which may not be contributing to overall physical health - if needed, we can modify these habitual patterns through exercise, to create new and less wearing kinetic habits. Muscle imbalances and incorrect movement patterns don't go away with general exercise, they tend to get worse and injuries are likely to happen. I find this is one of the reasons people quit programs so soon after starting, and why doing fitness challenges you are not ready for is not a good idea. Having a functional movement assessment before any fitness program is extremely important. Once we have a starting point, I will put together aunique program designed just for you. Based on your goals and your needs. All exercises are demonstrated to ensure proper form. Programs can be done together live, through video or self-directed with weekly check-ins.
