As the lockdown continues, the number of sledding-related injuries keeps going up. A mere week after our first warning, the number of injuries has doubled. As o...f today, 122 children and teens have been seriously injured. Of these injuries, 50% are due to collisions with obstacles such as trees, fences and benches. For those planning to make the most of the weekend’s snowfall, here are precautions you should take to stay safe while tobogganing: Always wear a ski or hockey helmet on the slopes (a bike helmet will do, but it does not provide as much protection), Choose gently sloping hills designated for sledding and make sure the hill is clear of all obstacles and ends with a wide-open space at the bottom, Remind your children to move out of the way as soon as they reach the bottom of the hill, so they don’t get hit by oncoming tobogganers. Please, play safe this weekend!

The study called SARS-CoV-2 Immunity and Reinfection Evaluation (SIREN) concluded that immune responses from past infection reduce the risk of catching the virus again by 83% for at least 5 months. But the researchers also found that people who become reinfected can carry high levels of the virus in their nose and throat, even when they do not show symptoms. Such viral loads have been associated with a high risk of transmitting the virus to others.
