Never too small to make a difference.

Saponetti 14.01.2021

The resurrection of a social voice. . Our decision to take a sabbatical from all non-essential communication at the beginning of June taught us a tremendous amount. . So we decided to start a Soapletter to share our thoughts and continue cultivating our beloved community there. (Did you know that social media was designed to mimic the slot machines and casinos of Las Vegas? More on that in tonight’s Soapletter).... . Head to saponetti.ca to sign up, Issue no1 releasing this evening. . Snippets of what’s inside: The Letter: Thoughts on Uplifting Communities Website Update + Product ’s Resources mentioned in The Letter . P.S. We will still be posting here on IG and Facebook sporadically to pay homage to our beloved community, products, and suppliers, however all the deep goodness will be streamlined in said Soapletter. Come hither, share the love, get soapy. . Sending all our love and gratitude, Nikki, Chris, and the Saponetti Family. See more

Yay! All empty jars will be picked up with regular deliveries. All things will be the same as they've been the last several months: apartment/condo humans will receive a call to come down and make the swap. House humans leave your jars out the night before. As always please make sure to have your bottles free of soap residue to save our mighty dishwasher some soap foam fiascos.... :)

We got curious why are these words not as interchangeable as we think? Here is what we found: _ CLEANING A process that uses a surfactant (a chemical that foams and have detergency. aka soap) with water to reduce the levels of dirt and other contaminants from a living or non-living surface. Soap molecules disrupt the chemical bonds that allow certain bacteria, viruses, and grime to stick to a surface, holds them in suspension while the water rushes them off.... MUST happen before sanitizing or disinfecting a surface to ensure the maximum amount of pathogens are killed/removed. _ SANITIZING A chemical process that reduces the bacteria population on a surface by significant numbers but does not destroy or eliminate ALL bacteria. A process used on humans because killing all bacteria is far from ideal. Companies are legally required by Health Canada, EPA, and FDA to test their sanitizer solution on pathogens and document that it can kill 99.999% of said pathogen within 30 seconds 1 minute. ( @ US Chemical) This is why when you look at bottles of Purell/other sanitizers you see a Drug Facts label. _ DISINFECTING Requires a stronger solution to destroy 100% of most bacteria rather than simply reduce them. A process used for inanimate objects, not people. Must be left on a surface for a minimum of 10 minutes to effectively work. The surface should dry on its own as wiping down will recontaminate it. A disinfectant is legally required to be tested against every organism it claims to kill and list them on the bottle. Disinfectants do NOT kill spores (bacteria that can grow a hard outer shell that makes it resistant to chemical attacks) requiring sterilization to kill them. + Fun fact: spores can be created by using undiluted Rubbing Alcohol on a surface, whereas the water acts as a blanket for the bacteria to stay on the surface for the disinfecting agent to work. _ STERILIZATION a sterilant means a substance, or mixture of substances, that destroys and eliminates all form of microbial life including spores. @cornell_law_school _ KEY DIFFERENCES Contact Time: 1. sanitizing requires a surface to stay wet and untouched for 30 seconds 1 minute 2. Disinfecting requires a surface to stay wet for 10 minutes minimum Chemical Concentration: 1. Sanitizers are used at lower concentrations than those for disinfectants _ PART 2: how and what to use Coming Soon! . . #clean #soap #surfactant #disinfect #sanitize #sciencedirect #elseviersciencedirect #research #science #bacteria #howtoclean #whatisclean #healthcanada #fda #chemicals #lowwaste #cleaningsolutions #chemicalsclean #microorganisms #killingbacteria #howto #stayclean #refillmysoap #soapisdope Elsevier See more
