The journey of this piece... I have never taken an art class and freehand draw from looking at the photos that I find that match the look and feel I'm going for. I don't know a technique outside of my own --- looking at something and just drawing it. Animals are something I love to draw and am loving incorporating them into some of my scenes.... The pieces I'm doing recently are on 11" x 14" paper - easy to clean up after and easy to slip away so I can start another.

Fire and Water make Ether Yesterday a wise woman reminded me of this as she spoke of her passion around diving into the depths of human emotion. The emotions of Anger + Sadness have brought me to the temple of The Great Spirit. Over and over again. This time was different though... when the emotion wreaked havoc on my body more than ever before, I stood at the temple gates and stepped inside, fully and completely and shut the door behind me.... We have an ability to shift our mood or negative state of being by first becoming aware of our present now moment and what thoughts are repeating to control these states. Life. Until recently I'm not sure that I've fully committed to life and living here. I recall 2012 being the year that I started my nature walks with the simple mantra, "be here now" playing over and over in my head.... Landing with my feet on the ground has been a crucial part of my spiritual practice and I would say it is a daily need. Asking myself questions like --- How can I become more committed to this life? --- Am I present and fully aware of my actions? --- What can I eliminate that is in the way of my commitment to this experience of life on Earth? I am now arriving fully and completely. #soulfulartist #awaken

It feels like a long, long wave riding steady sometimes I think I'm a bit too steady. Then I wonder why I think it's not ok to be too steady that it would be normal to bail. And so I make myself do that - I stumble just because I don't want to get too comfortable - I should experience pain too and I do - I feel it all and have learned to be so incredibly sober to everything. This is my analytical thought process playing out... Tomorrow is my birthday and I feel like I'm... stepping into something new a new decade, yes... (Forty).... but it's more than that. Maybe experiencing the tragedy of death and loss of one's soul will do this to a person. I am more raw and demand that more of those I spend time with. I see through bullshit more. If we can't be real and show up fully and completely, then we are wasting our time. So as you ride your wave, I wish you an adventurous and heartfelt journey. We don't know where we will end up, but we can be aware of where we are, discern what is not ours and have the courage to not blindly follow others (and the stupid rules!!!). Landing in gratitude for the ability to get back on the wave of life and ride it with some friggin style!

Currently there is an undeniable need to delete all aspects within myself that do not serve my highest potential. I have been here before but never to such an extreme. This is happening - all of it. Originally, I didn't think that I would be running sound baths for our last month. October is the last month of being in our commercial space, running my business and my mom's business as we have known it. When I asked her for guidance about this month and how to transition, she suggested I lead the meditations another surprise to me! Last night was our first one and it was such a beautiful experience, I'm glad she pushed me a bit. I think this is also part of my healing and... transition into life without her here in physical form. All of the Friday sessions are fully booked but Mondays are now open in October for people to register. ~(Oct 5, 12, 19 & 26)~ Brian James Smith is accompanying me in this vibrational bath of sound with his native flute on the Mondays also. On September 1st, 2020, the life of my mother and my best friend came to a sudden and tragic end. My life will never be the same and there are changes I will make. I am an artist, that will always be but I will no longer be operating in town at the Art Beat Studios location as of October 1st. I have other plans coming into fruition, but for now, my shop will remain online only. That being said, I've discounted a bunch of my pieces to clear out some stock before I move.... As many of you know, I teach yoga and have for quite some time and have witnessed many life lessons throughout the years. An aspect I'm compelled to share is how a mere yoga pose can look and feel very different in the body after it is held for an extended period of time. The body's way of 'dealing' with the physical expression is easily manipulated and sometimes controlled by the mental body, conscious and subconscious. |||This is where the phrase, "the mind is a good serva...nt, but a terrible master" rings in my ears||| Just a reminder as we endure postures (I'm not just referring to the ones on a yoga mat) that make us feel very uncomfortable, that we unpack where the discomfort is coming from. This Last week, my friend Gessica and I ran our second and final 'Little Miss Wilderness' Camp of the summer. Each day of last week we planned our theme of learning around the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms. The art project for the last day was meant to incorporate all of the kingdoms so I made the paint that you see on this picture from plants and minerals. Yes, I made paint !!!... See in second photo...... Before the girls created their art, they had the opportunity to journey in meditation to see one of their spirit animals and then follow through with drawing and painting them. Honestly, I'm bursting with gratitude for having the opportunity to witness so much magick this past week ! And so. we decided to keep it going and will be offering a program this fall for kids that are homeschooled.
