Sarah Parks Horsemanship was thrilled to host our recent Fundraiser Trail Ride to benefit Firehorse Leadership Organization ! This well attended event saw close to 30 riders and we could not be more grateful to our fellow horse community for your generous support of our youth leadership and horsemanship programs. A special thank you to Essex Region Conservation for their collaboration with us to explore ERCA’s scenic properties by horseback. We wrapped up the ride with a warm chili luncheon and prize give-aways to our riders. Congratulations to Bonnie Rempel who won the Marcie's Magna Wave treatment and to all our other prize winners!

Here's a look at some of the fun that we had last week at Thrill of Drill Summer Camp! This week at camp we learned about the importance of desensitizing horses and ponies. That means making them familiar with new sounds! Our craft this week was string art using a piece of wood, nails and string. The campers LOVED this craft and it was super easy to do.... We also played dress-up with the ponies and we worked together to complete challenges, like walking under a tarp and stepping onto a bridge! Everyone did a great job and we had so much fun this past week! Together we calculated the weight of some of the smallest and largest horses on the farm.... Who do you think was the biggest? The campers also participated in a discussion regarding common health issues in the equine world and learned about different horse colours and markings. And together we had a lot of fun learning new games and making bird feeders using recycled tin cans, popsicle sticks, acrylic paint, twine, and hot glue. This week is so special to us! It's Volunteer Appreciation Week and so much of the magic that happens here on the ranch is thanks to our amazing volunteers! From everyone at SPH, we would like to send a big thank you to all of you for being such an important part of our ranch family. ...We cannot do what we do without you and we are so grateful for our incredible team! Latest COVID-19 (Corona Virus) UPDATE The Ontario Government has recently enacted a Declaration of Emergency to Protect the Public. With this, they have mandated that All facilities providing indoor recreational programs are required to close immediately. Though we are an outdoor facility, we too have decided that in the best interest of the collective heath and safety of our staff, participants, and community, we are postponing the remaining days of our March Break Cam...p until further notice. We feel that acting as a collective is the best measure for the prevention and control of the virus and we also respect the recommendations of capping group gatherings as recommended by the Chief Medical Officer. Based on the status of COVID-19 and governing recommendations, we intend on bringing you the latest updates related to our programs here on the ranch. In the meantime as we look ahead to spring, here’s a friendly reminder that registration is open for our 9 week After School Program that begins in May! Check out our easy online registration here at: https://www.sarahparkshorsemanship.com/. Stay healthy, and keep it horsey! The Sarah Parks Horsemanship Team

Sarah Parks Horsemanship 28.08.2019

COVID-19 (Corona Virus) UPDATE - to campers and their families! As we approach the excitement of our March Break Camp and the weeks following, we want you to know that we are closely monitoring the situation around the Covid-19 (corona virus) and want to share important details and information with you. To dispel any rumours and myths, the American Veterinary Medical Association has indicated there is NO EVIDENCE showing horses or pets can contract COVID-19 nor would be able... to spread the disease to other farm animals or humans. Currently, there are no impacts to our operations. However, we’re monitoring things as they unfold to ensure the safety of our participants and staff. We are taking a proactive approach to ensure the safety of our riders, staff and their family. As a result, we are implementing the following specific measures to reduce the risk to everyone at our farm: Increasing the frequency of disinfecting all surfaces that come into contact with our staff and our riders. Providing hand sanitizer upon entering and leaving program/activity area and encouraging effective hand washing. Ensuring we have space for social distancing within our activity areas Screening all participants for travel history and symptoms of COVID-19 Enforcing that all participants and staff to stay home if sick at all Campers are responsible for bringing their own snacks & lunches Should we need to cancel due to aforementioned reasons, a credit will be provided to participants that can be applied to any SPH programs and services up to one year of your original registration It is everyone’s responsibility to help limit the spread of the Virus, our participants and their families are asked to Wash their hands frequently and use alcohol-based hand sanitizer Limit touching their face Ensure they are staying a safe distance away from others NEWS UPDATE Pending no worsening changes to the status of COVIOD-19, we are extending our camp program to include the remaining weeks of March. Our curriculum will be education and activity-based with the spaciousness of our farm and nature as our classroom. Please contact me if you are interested in your child joining us! As a little reminder for our campers make sure to bring along your lunch and snacks, a change of clothes (preferably several layers), and rubber or winter boots to comfortably enjoy our outdoor activities! We are looking forward to seeing you next week. In Health & Horses, The Sarah Parks Horsemanship Team
