Why do you need to warm up? As a trainer, I get this question a lot and I wanted to provide a written (and visual) answer to this. These photos were taken 5 mins apart of my awesome client @alexbanham. This first one was right after he walked into the gym on our first leg day and the second was after 5 mins of mobility drills and muscle activation. Although we still need to work on a bit more ankle mobility and length in some of the hip muscles to get the depth we want, y...ou can see a massive difference in Alex’s alignment. The main point is that absolutely EVERYONE has muscle imbalances due to their daily habits and actions (even trainers), so a proper warmup is needed to ensure that your body actually CAN get into the certain positions you need it to during your training. Without a specific warmup to your body’s imbalances you will simply be moving in a way that reinforces these suboptimal movement patterns !
