sometimes you log onto social media and it might not be a good week. a good month. or even a good year. you scroll through a feed where a never ending list of b...right smiling faces share their daily accomplishments and all the wonderful things they’re up to. suddenly you feel even more defeated. it seems you are the only one experiencing the darkness. the sadness. the loneliness. that’s the thing about social media. it gives us a space to carve a reality of ourselves by selectively choosing what we want people to see. so we share the good. the funny. the sexy. the inspiring. but rarely the ugly. the lonely. or confused. believe me. someone’s profile could look like the most perfect thing- but no one’s life comes close to perfect. i wrote this poem as a reminder to myself that everybody is going through hardship no matter where they are in their trajectory. sometimes we have to logout to take care of our mental health. especially when another person’s accomplishments begin to feel like your personal failures. that’s when you know you need a little self loving See more

Hi all, Through my Adverse childhood experiences community (ACEs) I learned that Oprah Winfrey will be addressing the long-term effects of childhood trauma this Sunday, March 11 on 60 Minutes (tune in on CBS at 7:00 p.m. ET). She really focuses on the trauma informed approach - the "what's happened to you, rather than what's wrong with you." Having her voice on this can only be a positive force for awareness. If you'd like to see a preview - here's a link https://www.cbsnews.com//oprah-winfrey-childhood-trauma-p/
