An exemption has been made! Here we go again! Our chief medical officer has made an exemption to the restrictions that were put into place on Dec 13th. This means that our voices were heard! I thank each and every one of you for the continued support. There is one new rule that has been put into place with this exemption. Massage services can only be obtained with a doctors prescription or written referral from a regulated health professional. Here is the link to all of the... regulated health professionals in Alberta. https://www.alberta.ca/regulated-health-professions.aspx The rules around the referrals are as follows: An existing written prescription is only valid if issued within the last 12 months. An existing written referral is only valid if issued within the last 12 months. A copy of the original written prescription or written referral is acceptable. The written prescription or written referral must be provided prior to receiving treatment. A copy of the written prescription or written referral must be kept in the client’s file. With the announcement today light is certainly on the horizon but unfortunately the announcement today gave no exact detail. Massage is NOT ALLOWED TO OPERATE as of right now. We are all still patiently waiting for more detail on exactly when we will be able to practice with these new restrictions. All we know is that when massage can reopen again a prescription from your doctor or referral from Physio or Chiro will be needed to be able to receive your massage. Hoping for more information in the coming days.
