The start of summer brought me the sweetest little fam. I absolutely love shooting in June. The days are long, the sunsets golden, and the bugs minimal. Lets talk about the family portrait. Much like everything else in life, it doesnt need to look like what you think it should look like. You dont have to wear matching outfits and you dont have to pose with Mom in the chair and Dads hand on her shoulder. And it definitely shouldnt be painful. It should be real life. Just like you.

The best part about micro weddings is the quality connection you see between people. Theres no small talk, chit chat or niceties. Its genuine. Its real. Its a moment in time that is finite, so people make the most of it.

I get asked sometimes if Im a wedding photographer or a family photographer. The truth is I capture connected, intimate moments. I photograph love, in all its raw messy realness. If you want to grab a quick snap staring at the camera, Im not your girl. We play. We dance. We just be. (Of course I guide you!) My job is to remind you of why you came for photos in the first place, because you love your family and they come first before all else.

I was able to see Grads of 2020 from February to September. You each brought your heart, your energy and your personality. Every single Grad shoot was completely different. It makes me excited for you and the future.

THE COWANS | They always embrace their shoot with full hearts and the intention of just being together. Exploring, dancing and playing as a family.

As this season enters the final few weeks of vibrant colours and connected hearts, Im already brainstorming of how I want the next one to play out. How to schedule differently, updates to my prep guides and of course the thorn in my side COVID policies. Thats the beauty of change. It forces us to be smart, to be creative. Instead of throwing in the towel Im finding ways to become water running through the boulders and rocks in front of me. ... I want to continually carve this life and business into something thats fluid, thats ever changing. Something that works for my goals, because I can for certain tell you Im not the same person I was when I started this journey 10 years ago. And thats a beautiful thing.

Its wedding day for Darren & Cassandra and I cannot wait to hear more of their laughter and love story.

Its all about perspective and priorities. The beauty of our humanity is that we have value systems where we rank things we love differently. I might value chocolate more and you might love chips. And thats perfectly ok. Can we keep that in mind with the big important life things? That would be great, thanks.

Do you remember those specific moments in your life where nothing memorable really happened, but it was just a damn good time? And every time you hear that song or you eat that cake or wear those shoes that memory comes flooding back? And besides those smells and sounds and memories all you have is a photograph? Thats why I do what I do.

ANDREW & ELYSE | After proposing on the possession day of their new home, Andrew contacted me about celebrating with a session.

Alright here it is. Im coming to the end of the season and in the final stretch. Its busy. Im tired. My camera is tired. My computer is slow because the file load is overwhelming. I could feel the anxiety creeping in last night as I lay in bed. I remind myself that even though the workload is intense, the season is short. And its worth it when I get to see beautiful people like Jordan & Syd.
