My 2020 Wrap-Up!

Happy 2021 everyone!

What can I say about 2020 that hasn’t been said in the thousands of memes online? Life changed in so many ways. In some ways our lives were turned upside down. And in other ways our lives made an unexpected turn for the better. We all learned how to slow down, appreciate the small things, and focus on those closest to us. Weddings were not excluded from the changes that we all experienced this year. They became smaller, more intimate, and even more joyous. The effort it to...ok to plan and carry out a wedding in the middle of a pandemic compelled the couples to be even more appreciative of the union they were entering. It focused them on what is really important in life. This year’s weddings included only the most important people in the couple’s lives. They became more like a family dinner than a huge celebration. They centered on the couple’s love for each other over the splashing affair. They were important, special and truly heartwarming. I’m always truly honoured to be chosen to document the most special moments in someone’s life, and this year I appreciated this even more. When numbers had to be limited, I knew that I was taking the spot of a guest that wasn’t able to be included. And because so many important people had to be left off the guestlist, my job as a wedding photographer changed from merely documenting the moments of a wedding day to recording all the special moments for those that weren’t able to celebrate with the couple. I didn’t take the idea of this lightly. Of course, photos are important, but this year their importance seemed to be imperative. I’m heartbroken for all of the couples that chose to postpone their weddings. I can’t imagine how difficult or sad that decision was for everyone to make. Especially for those who had already been planning for years. I have a feeling that 2021 weddings will look similar to weddings in 2020, but I’ve come to realize that this isn’t a negative thing. As we’ve heard a million times it’s our new normal. And I kinda like it! Bring on 2021, changes and all and let’s make the best of it!! See more

Happy 3rd Anniversary to Jacqueline and Pat! This was by far the coldest wedding I’ve ever shot. -40 degrees, on the water! The poor flowers died almost immediately. Everyone had to hold their breath so that it didn’t look like they were smoking. The guys complained way more than the girls. But it was all worth it for this beautiful images and for this awesome couple to celebrate their love!! Check it all out here

Happy First Anniversary to Rachel and John! This was such a great day! It was warm and sunny and their fur-baby Tug made a surprise appearance! It was perfect! This was also the last non-covid-y wedding that I shot. Lots of hugging and togetherness and not a single mask in sight. I miss weddings like this desperately. Check out their perfect day here

Jenna and Kurtis are engaged!! Kurtis popped the question at Disney and when I heard this amazing story I told them that it was absolutely mandatory that they include their Mickey ears in their engagement photos. And they did not disappoint! We made our way around the beautiful Queen's campus taking in all the fall colours on an usually warm November morning. It was a fantastic shoot and I can't wait to work with this sweet couple again next year when they get married! Congratulations to you both again, enjoy your sneak peeks!

Happy First Anniversary to Jennie and Matt! It was chilly and windy but it was still perfect! It was intimate and special and their love for each other jumps out of their photos. And now one year later Jennie and Matt are celebrating another huge life event. They recently found out that they’re expecting twins!! Their family is growing by two and I couldn’t be happier for them! Congrats and happy anniversary!!

Happy 9th Anniversary to Charlene and Josh! I think this cute couple were one of my first couples that opted to do a First Look which wasn’t the norm back then. Now it’s a lot more popular. There was a perfect spot for photos everywhere I looked!! And Katie and Brent are so cute together, holding hands between locations and so much laughing!
