Just a reminder, I will not be at my residency this afternoon. I will be preparing for my workshop/artist talk Mastering Manual Mode on Zimmerman and hope you can join. I will be printing all day tomorrow for my last day in residence if you would like to pop by and have a look at my full body of work over the last two weeks. #residency #manualmode #manualphotography #artisttalk #treeroots

In Full Color. Just before the rain hit, I saw the reward. This would not be possible without the time given by this residency with the @fredbotanicgarden with the City Of Fredericton #fredart #gumprint #artcollector #artgallery #flowers #botanicalart #freddybeach #fredericton #artist #canadianartist #newbrunswick #newbrunswickartist

The chemistry lab. Here are all the little secrets you wont see when you visit. Sensitizing and adding pigment requires a dim space away from UV light. I typically prepare paper in the mornings but might be tucked away this afternoon praying for full Color results. This is all possible thanks to my residency at Fredericton Botanic Garden Association with the City of Fredericton Government. #gumprinting #fredericton #fredart #freddybeach #residency #watercolor #artists #art #camadianartist #alternitivephotography #alternativephotographicprocesses

I have been printing so much! But before the printing starts the shooting takes place. The frog pond is one of the most beloved spots at the @fredbotanicgarden and took my kids along to get this shot. I have printed him, and my daughter has claimed him for her own. For all those looking for a new outing with you kiddies this is one place that cant be missed. #frog #pond #kids #activitiesforkids #photography #fredericton #summer #fredart #residency #residencylife #freddybeach

Testing Testing. Going to try my hand at full colour prints this week. These are my test strips of the day. Each colour responds differently to the sun and requires different s exposure times. If you look closely you can see detail becoming less clear. This was caused by controlled exposure times. One week has passed, with one more left to go with my residency with the City of Fredericton Government at the Fredericton Botanic Garden Association. I have been challenged and learned so much about the gum printing process and thankfully for this time to really experiment and push myself. Next week I will be producing images inspired by my surroundings this past week. #artfredericton #fredart #fredarts #residency #artist #gumprinting #gum #printing #photography #photographer #alternitivephotography #alternativephotographer #newbrunswickcanada #newbrunswicktourism @ Fredericton Botanic Garden Association

Treasures treasures everywhere. There is so much to see here at the @fredbotanicgarden. Just a few items I found on the main trail during my walk early this morning. A perfect day for a treasure hunt and frog watching. #paintedrocksofinstagram #paintedrocks #fredericton #kidsactivities #botanicgardens @ Fredericton Botanic Garden Association

Part of the process in gum bichromate printing is sensitizing your own paper. If you have come to visit I may be tucked away mixing chemistry and brushing on pigment. This step needs to be done in a dark location, so hold tight I will emerge from the darkroom soon to continue printing and developing. I am located at 10 Cameron ct Fredericton Botanic Garden Association as apart of my residency with the City of Fredericton Government. #fredart #artfred #residency #residencylife #residencyprogram #gumprint #gumprinting #gumprintingprocess #pigment #watercolor #art #photographer #photographersofinstagram #fredericton #frederictonnb #frederictonartists #nbartist #canadianartist #frederictonphotographer

Craft NB stands alongside many other arts organisations in advocating for Basic Income for Artists and Craftspeople. READ FULL LETTER: https://www.obin.ca/a_pub...lic_letter_from_the_arts_community " The arts, culture, heritage, tourism, and creative industries have been deeply affected [by COVID-19]: productions have been canceled, venues shuttered, and livelihoods lost. In these unprecedented times, millions of Canadians, including those in the arts and culture sector, exist in a precarious reality. In this new reality, we are all vulnerable to unexpected changes in circumstances and unexpected hardships. Poverty can become a reality for all of us, abruptly, without warning." "We commend your leadership and the work of the Government of Canada in implementing and extending the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) and other measures, including support for the arts, sports, and cultural sectors. However, too many are still being left behind, held back by barriers beyond their control. A Basic Income Guarantee would build on your existing programs, including CERB, and provide financial security to meet peoples basic needs and allow them to participate in society, living with dignity regardless of their work status."

I have an infatuation with Polaroids. It is temperamental, sensitive to temperature, often have imperfections, but I am hooked, especially when it is capturing those special moments of my little ones. The little square frames are truly a moment in time that can never be duplicated. #happysummer #polaroid #swimming #kids #freserictonphotographer #canadian photographer #portraits #stills #prints #flamingo #pool #pink

It was time for a new self portrait...I have been very quiet on social media during the whole pandemic. I have had to change gears from entrepreneur and artist to teacher and am trying to pause, have some breathing space and give myself permission not to run myself ragged to create content just to maintain momentum. While prioritizing the wellbeing of my family I think about all the social hardships and tragic losses we are faced with as a society during this time. Part of my... teaching curriculum has been to discuss inequality in society with my favourite series of childrens books, and hope my children will stand in solidarity when they are called. I hope you are well, and giving yourself permission to cherish what is important, hold your loved ones tight in your heart, and stand in solidarity. #blacklivesmatter #standinsolidarity #pandemic2020 #artistportrait #portraitphotography #selfportrait See more

Happy Easter! To all those who were up at 5am Easter egg hunting...I feel you. This weekend I spent my time documenting and editing negatives from a time my mother was my sons age. For now I am a full time educator to my two young children amidst all the uncertainty that is affecting all our lives. I am spending my time reading, writing, baking, and conducting science experiments, along with exploring my love of visual art with the kids. COVID-19 has effected so many peoples lives in so many ways. My businesses is on hold but my art continues. I will be taking on selective work as the restrictions lift, and creating new contracts that are flexible and ...reflect our new normal. For now I will be posting images of what inspires me, and documenting old negatives from my family archives. I would love to hear how you and your family are making this time special. #polaroid #polaroidoriginals #catcostume #catcostumesofinstagram #kidsofinstagram #fredericton #arts #photography #photographylovers #photographylife #documentinglife #family #educator #nb #newbrunswick #canadianartist #canadianartists #newbrunswickartist #curator #artcollectorsofig #covid19art See more

If I could define my aesthetic in my work this would sum it up. A boat a drift on the Miramichi River, debris after the 2019 spring thaw, amongst the water, stone, twigs, and air. This project would not have been possible without funding from artsnb. The final body of work is compiled of three parts: digital, film, and installation. Delving Deep, an installation titled after the project, fuses analog with digital. A total of eight light boxes illuminate landscapes and atmospheres, captured digitally, and are then inverted creating a negative image. Positive transparencies of subjects were created from negative film, and mounted just above the inverted digital image. The audience interacts with the work though their personal devices. The work can then be seen in the way it is intended, and how digital is truly informed by the analog world.
