It’s about holiday time, crazy right? Reviewing photos of my kids from this time last year and this one sums up their relationship quite well . Big sister reigning in lil bro. I was sad making the decision not to offer my holiday sessions to clients this year, but it just made sense for me and my family. I did manage to capture some updated photos of the kids though...and based on my history of posting, you may see them next year . There’s seriously no rhyme or reason to the way I post. Hope everyone is keeping well!
Dr. D in studio, looking classy.
I have the deepest respect for this country’s Indigenous.
In looking for light and love, I spent some time over the last few days looking at newborn and childrens’ portraits I’ve taken. It’s helped soften the heaviness I’ve been feeling. Children are little lights of love. As a parent all you want to do is protect that light in them. But it is our responsibility to educate them about the world, as hard as it can be at times. Mother Theresa said, If you want to change the world, go home and love your family. That love comes via education. It’s our job to teach our children to respect all people, with all their differences. In our family, we don’t stand for racism or bigotry. I hope that my children grow up in a kinder world.
With all this heaviness in the world, I'm reminding myself to look for the light, look for the love.
It should be that simple. No if’s ands or buts. Feeling overwhelmed with the hate in this world. Feeling grateful for the platform of Instagram and Facebook where people are sharing so many resources so we can learn more. I’ve been on stories learning and sharing when I can. I realize that not everyone checks out my stories (which is mostly personal stuff), so if it wasn’t obvious, here it is. Black lives matter. I can not understand the stupidity of active racists, it’s infuriating.
