October 6th, 2020 will be the next main monthly meeting of the club. Our featured guest speaker is B.D. Colen. B.D. Colen is a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist, reporter, editor and columnist, author, and photographer. B.D. has written for The Washington Post, Newsday, The Boston Globe, Time magazine and The New England Journal of Medicine during a 26 year career. B.D. has been photographing for more than 60 years and describes himself as a "photographer of the mundane, o...f daily life lived". The photo below was taken by B.D. in Washington, DC in 1968. B. D. has also taught documentary photography for 16 years at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. B.D. now resides in London, Ontario and has established "The Dining Room School of Photography", teaching essentially the same course he taught at MIT. Normally classes are limited to 6 - 10 students and conducted in B.D. Dining Room. In these non-normal times classes will be offered to individual students via Zoom. September 15 will be the next club meeting. This is a mid-month meeting which will "focus" on ideas and information. Presentations will include Competition Talk about Macro/Common Objects, a debate on RAW versus JPEG for camera settings, and a segment about post processing your images specifically on culling and backing up photos. We are extremely pleased to have Richard Beland as our special guest presenter for the first meeting of the 2020-2021 club year! Tuesday, September 1st is the date, and we will begin promptly at 7:00 PM. Many of you will already be familiar with Richard’s work, he is a remarkable professional photographer who, over the past 30 years, has amassed iconic images of performers such as Coldplay, Tragically Hip, Guns N Roses, David Bowie, Nickelback, Kiss, Lennie Kravitz, Marilyn... Manson, Lady Gaga, Pearl Jam and many more. Join us online on the Zoom platform to see Richard speak passionately about his career doing performance photography.
