Staying home is essential to keeping everyone safe and healthy right now, but we understand home may not be a safe space for everyone. That’s why our support lines are here for you. If you need support, give us a call at 613-234-2266 or text us at 613-209-2272
For 37 years, SASC Ottawa has been a leading service in the community providing survivor directed, confidential support to the community. If you're looking for more information about our services, please visit http://sascottawa.com/services From our 24/7 support line to our specialized programs of direct support, we're here to prioritize the needs of survivors of gender-based and sexual violence. If you're looking for information to donate directly, visit https://sascottawa.com/support-our-work/
Folks, we are following protocol of Ottawa Public Health to do our best to slow potential for this virus to spread. We are here to provide support and want to recognize that survivors are contending with multiple things, on a daily basis not least of which includes a pandemic. We are suspending all in-person support sessions and groups until further notice. Individuals who are on our lists for individual support sessions will be offered support via phone or by Zoom. We understand that these are not the most equitable options. Our 24-hour support line (613) 234-2266 will continue to operate. If you need to get in touch with a peer support worker and are not sure how, please e-mail us at [email protected]. We will be in the centre to check messages on our office line, (613) 725-2160.

To our community members, survivors, and allies, The OCRCC and a number of Sexual Assault Centres across the province are saddened to announce the postponement ...of our Take Back The Night Virtual Edition. With safety precautions around Covid-19 and regulations on hosting large events we want to bring to survivors across the province the best Virtual Take Back The Night that we can. The virtual event will take place later this Fall. Stay tuned for updates! Follow the #TBTNVIRTUAL hashtag for updates or check back on our Facebook event page and the OCRCC website where updates will be shared. In these uncertain times it is important that we take the time to create an event that engages survivors, and that truly encompasses our theme for 2020 which focuses on honouring and supporting BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, Persons of Colour) Survivors in sharing their stories. We recognize that BIPOC survivors have long been silenced by systemic racism and face an increased risk of experiencing sexual and physical violence. We want to provide space for BIPOC survivors and their voices. We want to acknowledge the barriers that racism creates for BIPOC survivors when they are accessing support and we want to work towards dismantling these systems within our own communities. We would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to our speakers and community members who submitted pieces for our Take Back The Night Video. We can't wait to showcase your words and art soon, and we hope to do them justice. We would like to give a special thank you to Black Women In Motion, who partnered with us to support community submissions. We will have updates on our rescheduled Take Back The Night Virtual Edition, please stay tuned! Women In Crisis - Algoma Inc.
