Sunderland Fall Fair Cancellation Notice It is with significant regret that the Sunderland Agricultural Society announces the cancellation of the 2020 Fair originally scheduled for September 15th & 16th of this year. This decision was not taken lightly but was made by unanimous vote of the Board of Directors after taking into consideration all the implications of holding a Fair in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak. The health and safety of Fair patrons, suppliers, vendors, ...volunteers and members is our primary concern. The Sunderland Fall Fair has been a staple event in our community for 168 years. Organizers and fairgoers alike look forward to this event each year and we will all be disappointed by its absence in 2020. We look forward, however, to 2021 when we hope to see you all again. In the meantime, we will be looking for other ways to keep our Fair alive and to make the 169th Fair better than ever. For now we encourage everyone to follow government guidelines and to practice the protocols needed to stay safe and well during this time. President Jim Kiezebrink Secretary Lynda Simpson

The Board of Directors and Committee Chairs have been working on preparations for our annual fall fair. Unfortunately, the current health crisis has made it impossible for us to hold our annual fund raising event. Consequently, the Horseman’s dance scheduled for April 24 th is cancelled. We thank all those who had offered their services and/or planned to support this event with donations or by attending this event. Work that can be done safely at home, however, continues. The... Fair book, for example, is ready for publishing. While we do not know when we will be able to send it for printing, all the information in the book is available online at agfair.ca. The Society encourages everyone to follow the guidelines for social distancing and personal hygiene issued by our public health officials as we all play our part in reducing the spread of this virus. We are pleased to announce that the Demolition Derby will be back this year, bigger and better than ever. There will be three feature events: a Full Sized Pro Sock Car, a Straight Stock Mini Car and a Truck Class, each carrying a guaranteed first place prize of $1,000. Look for details including all rules and regulations to be posted on our website in the next few days.

It's here! The SAS Horseman's Dance featuring music by Cash on the Barrelhead takes place this Friday, April 12 th, 8.30 p.m. at the Sunderland Arena. Come out and support the Fair. Enjoy music and dancing, participate in the live and silent auctions, buffet lunch included.

The next meeting of the Sunderland Agricultural Society will take place on Monday, March 25 th in the Sunderland Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. Coming soon...... As a result of the winter storm earlier this week, the February meeting of the Fair Board has been re-scheduled to Monday, March 4th. Committee chairs are reminded that it is important to submit your fair book page as soon as possible but no later than March 31st. If there are no changes, please advise by email. If you have not received a copy of the guidelines for submission, you may request one from the Fair Secretary. Also if you do not receive the minutes of the regular meetings and wish to be added to the distribution list, please send a request to the Fair Secretary at [email protected].
