The government and churches created residential schools to kidnap Indigenous children and take the Indian out of the child. Many children were abused sexually, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. There were over 6,000 deaths in these schools. Survivors suffered awful mental illnesses and substance abuse due to these experiences and these were ultimately passed down to their children. Educate yourselves and others to stop the stigma and stereotypes put onto Indigenous people. Help us heal and remember those that suffered through these awful schools. #EveryChildMatters
