Snowmobile trails are for snowmobile use only from December 1st to April 15th. I'm sure you've seen the signs, but what does this REALLY mean? Well trails on cr...own land and trails on private land vary slightly. On crown land it's simple, it's just what it says: "snowmobile use only until April 15th. That means that ANYTHING (no matter how many tracks you slap on it) other than a snowmobile CAN NOT be on SSA trail. After April 15th there’s nothing saying you couldn’t technically ride on them with an ATV or similar; regardless of how unsafe it may be. We ask that if a trail is still open on crown land after April 15th, that you please respect the hard work that’s been put in and let snowmobilers enjoy the remainder of their season. Moreover we would remind you that our trails are designed for snowmobiles to meet snowmobiles, so anything wider (ATVs, Side by sides, etc.) are extremely dangerous for both parties. For our trails on private land it's a bit different. Our landowners have agreements with our clubs that allow access to snowmobiles only, and on the trails only (no hopping off to play). No other vehicle should ever be on those trails, regardless of date, and nothing (even snowmobiles) should ever be off the trail. Once a trail is set to closed for the season NO ONE, not even snowmobiles, are legally allowed to be on that trail anymore; this would be considered trespassing. With the end of the season just around the corner, and our remaining trails dwindling, we hope that this clears a few things up. To find any surviving trail in your area, head to sasksnow.com and check out the interactive trail map!

Took advantage of the spectacular sunshine and blue sky to deliver firewood to the North 40 shelter followed with a wiener roast at the LDQ. Great to see riders out enjoying the fresh air abundant snow. A big thank you to everyone for packing out their cans and garbage and to my niece Settena Rogalski for helping me out. HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone, see you on the snow in 2021!

The view from inside LdQ shelter today. Bob & I rode 230 kms today. Visibility was not great due to no sun, but we had a great ride anyway.

YOU can help keep our shelters and trails open by abiding by the Public Health Orders. The gathering sizes inside and outside of shelters AND ON THE TRAILS cann...ot exceed the current Public Health Orders. One outbreak could lead to all of our shelters and trails being closed so please continue to Snowcial Distance. At the time of writing this (December 22, 2020), Public and private outdoor gatherings are permitted up to 10 persons. Persons in attendance must ensure that physical distancing of at least 2 meters between households is maintained. However, as the shelters are not subject to scheduled disinfection, gatherings of any size in any shelter beyond immediate household is strongly discouraged. Please wear a mask at all times when not operating a snowmobile. These guidelines are subject to change, so be sure to check current Public Health Orders before heading out. If we all follow the guidelines, socially distance, wear masks, and avoid creating large groups/gatherings, then we can ensure that the trails remain open. The actions of a single person can, and will, make or break this season; for everyone. Regardless of your personal beliefs, laws are in place and breaking them results in consequences for us all. The time to bite your tongue is over. If you have friends who are breaking these restrictions, say something. Before we all lose snowmobiling this winter, or worse. Saskatoon Snowmobile Club Trail 112A is now signed and groomed from the Clubhouse in Saskatoon to Rosthern. Thanks to the hard working volunteers for getting this done. Early next week, we will continue from Rosthern to Duck Lake and on to MacDowall.... Snow conditions are great and the Trail is experiencing high volumes of snowmobile Traffic. At this time, we also encourage snowmobilers to have their sleds licensed - it is required to snowmobile on any public land and on designated snowmobile Trails. Without licensing you have NO Liability Insurance and also face stiff fines if stopped by the RCMP. The Registration Fee associated with licensing, goes towards paying for the development and maintenance of the 10,000 kms of Designated Snowmobile Trails in our Province!

If you're planning on taking advantage of the early snowfall this weekend, remember that most trails are not opened yet. Signage is not in place, grooming has y...et to occur, and all potential hazards have yet to be cleared or marked. Most commonly we've had reports of riders going through open water. If you don't know, don't go. See more

We rode our Trail Route today from Saskatoon to Duck Lake. The snow in the ditches, from Warman to Hague, is very beat up by tonnes of snowmobile traffic. The route from Hague to Duck Lake was lots of fun in deep soft snow. We stopped at the Shelters - all good there! We also stopped at Boxy's, in Rosthern, for fuel and lunch.

With the new mask requirements for many businesses in Saskatchewan coming out, we'd like to take a second to remind you to please pack a mask and hand sanitizer... when heading out on the trail. Pack it along side that emergency TP, just make sure to grab the right one when the time comes. While it may not be required when riding, it's of particular importance when visiting our shelters. Wear a mask, don't share food or drink, and please don't linger longer than you need. Sure, many of us enjoy hanging out in the shelters with out friends, but it's important to remember that first and foremost they are WARM UP shelters; we'd hate to discourage anyone from stopping in to warm up just because there's a large group in there already.
