Hello movie aficionados! I haven’t posted in a very long time, but I’m going to try to do regular movie reviews and try to start some discussions on film based topics as well. Please watch for those in the future. Anyhoo, here’s why I posted today: I just watched Possessor by Brandon Cronenberg. ... First off. I liked it. If you’re a fan of his father’s work, I’m pretty sure you’ll enjoy this too. It reminds me of the earlier work of David Cronenberg. Mainly the science fiction aspect and the atmosphere and pacing, and the mixture of technology and living creatures. I’d actually love to talk about David Cronenbers work forever, but this is about Possessor. I will say, I came into this without even seeing a trailer, so I expected it to be a supernatural horror, or exorcism movie. It was not at all, which is totally fine. About the film itself, I found the first half to be more engaging than the second as it seemed to slow down a lot, but in the end it did not disappoint. Totally a slow burn movie. I think if you’re going to see this film you need to be warned that it is violent. Wow. The violence is extreme. Its violent in a way that most people have not seen on film. The gore is intense and hyper realistic. It’s hard to look at and hard to look away at the same time. The great thing about it, is to me, it didn’t detract from the story. The violence was important to the story and the growth of the main character. I don’t want to give away too much, so I’ll just say that if you’re looking for something different and have a strong stomach, this is definitely worth a watch. As far as a rating goes, I’d say it’s a 6.5/10.

We will surely miss the great Chuck Berry. This is a great documentary about how important he was on the American music scene.
