Zoom Production Question We have just finished staging our whole production in Zoom using the "new" multi-spotlight and multi-pin features. However when we went... to do a live-stream test we seem to loose all of the pinning. On the live stream is just switches to speaker mode or gallery mode. This is regardless of whether we stream directly through zoom or zoom webinar. (It seems crazy that they would add these features without being able to stream using them!?!?!) Anyone find a solution to this? What am I doing wrong? See more

Meet The Board - Gregory Digout - Regional Liaison Hi. I am Gregory Digout. I retired from teaching June after 32 years, the final 30 teaching English and Drama at Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton. I have been a member of SDA since 1991 and spent twenty years in various positions on the SDA Board of Directors from 1995 through 2015. I look forward to continuing my involvement in SDA even though I am no longer in the classroom.

I teach an online (zoom) theatre appreciation course at a community college. This week I am talking about designers (mainly set, lighting, costume, sound). I... am specifically looking for an activity that gives them an idea of what set designers do. Any ideas? Any other ideas on how to introduce other design elements are welcome too! Thanks! See more

Meet The Board - Tanya Johnson - Immediate Past President Hi! My name is Tanya Johnson and I'm Past President of SDA. I'm a vice-principal and school psychologist at Cornerstone Christian School in Moose Jaw. I teach musical theatre, drama, and psychology. When I'm not directing plays and musicals or travelling to New York to see plays and musicals, I love spending time out at the farm with my horse. I've been involved with SDA for approximately 22 years. I participated in o...ne act festivals when I was in high school and then grew up to be a teacher-director, drama festival host coordinator, and SDA board member. It's meaningful to be a part of SDA as a board member because the festivals program meant so much to me when I was in high school. It's really neat to be able to provide those same incredible experiences to my own students now. I love live theatre and have mourned the loss of the productions that never made it to the stage in 2020. I can't wait for the curtains to open and the lights to come up again! See more

Here’s a great game to break up the Zoombification of students and get them up and moving as a way to break up the endless hours of staring into a screen and instantly achieve full class engagement.

Meet The Board - Ray Deans - President-Elect Hi Everyone! I have been on the SDA Board in a few different roles as Regional Liaison, Member at Large, and now in my first year of two as President-Elect. I have been a Sask Drama member for decades, first as a student, then as a teacher/director. I have taught drama at three of the high schools in Moose Jaw Riverview Collegiate, Central Collegiate, and presently at Peacock Collegiate. I have done sound design, lighting, acted,... stage-managed, and directed in many shows from the elementary level to adult community theatre competitions. I enjoy coaching my kids in Lacrosse, cheering them on when they skate and directing them in the occasional musical. Theatre and drama can play a large role in developing kids into strong and confident adults. I want to ensure that theatre has a large role in our communities and province, and all who want to take part have the opportunity. See more

Meet the Board - Jeannine LeSann, President This year is my first as President of the Saskatchewan Drama Association and I am looking forward to the next two years of working with a wonderful board and executive. I am a teacher and career guidance counsellor in Esterhazy, Sk. Directing plays and entering them into Region 4 Drama Festival is a passion of mine since I was a student at Sacred Heart High School in Yorkton. It is amazing that I now have the opportunity to work with such amazing and passionate thespians. I like keeping busy and traveling in my spare time, which I do not get much of these days. I am hopeful that the next few years are also going to be exciting for the SDA and new opportunities to showcase drama in our province.
