My interest and passion for the care of children with diabetes and their families started with my experiences at diabetes camp, which I continue to be involved with, and I am excited for new opportunities that arise as the program in Saskatchewan continues to grow. Each year, our team partners with the Diabetes Canada D-camps (dcamps.ca) program to offer a camp for children living with type 1 diabetes. Since 1956, the Saskatchewan Children's Camp has provided countless memories for children affected by type 1 diabetes. It allows children a safe and fun opportunity to meet other children with type 1 and develop lifelong friendships. Our medical staff team (Med Team) is a dedicated, committed group of health-care professionals who understand how important the camp experience is for children and youth living with type 1 diabetes.

I graduated from the NEPS program at the University if Saskatchewan in 2011 with a BScN. Since graduation I have worked as an RN on Acute Care Pediatrics at RUH. Recently, I also took a position as a Diabetes Nurse Clinician in the Pediatric Diabetes Program. Some of the roles as one of the four Nurse Clinicians are to provide support and education for families of children newly diagnosed with diabetes, develop provincial resources, facilitate outpatient follow up clinics and be available for questions and concerns that come up daily for families. We provide education to children and families with both Type I and Type 2 diabetes. Quite often when these children are newly diagnosed with this condition, we are often spending 2-5 days of teaching with them.
