Good Morning everyone! I hope your summer is going well & you are finally able to enjoy the beach. We have a couple activity updates we would like to share with you, along with some park information. The Grey Bruce Health Unit has issued an order to wear a Face Covering in indoor locations, what this means is anyone entering the office & laundry room are recommended to wear a mask or face covering. The pool area is exempt from this order. Our playground is now open! This ar...ea is not a sanitized location and to be used at your own risk. We have rolled out some personal camping merchandise in the Office. Some items include, kids & adults t-shirts, sweaters, hats, bags, beer koozies & sand pales. Park Activities 1) July 25th is Christmas in July. Trailer decoration judging will take place at dusk with a surprise visit from santa at that time. He will throw a small treat out to the kids he passes. There will be NO photos on Santa's lap this year. 2) Bingo will continue Saturday nights at 7:00pm on the hill. 3) August 1st we will have a live band on the hill from 5:00-8:00pm, bring your own chair or blanket! 4) Halloween Weekend will kick off on Saturday Sept 5th at 1:00pm with our annual family scavenger hunt. We will also be having a pig roast & live band from 4:00-7:00. Pop by and see the pig on the spit prior to dinner. Tickets will be sold in the office at a later date & price is to be determined. Following dinner our annual trick or treat will commence at 7:00pm. We would like to organize another horse shoe tournament for September, please see myself or Steve if you are interested. Once we know there is enough interest we will determine a date for the event. Enjoy this beautiful weather! Shelby

Press Release 14 June 8, 2020 at 1:00 pm Town of South Bruce Peninsula beaches and parks will open tomorrow on a restricted trial basis. Pools, splash pads, ...playgrounds and fitness equipment remain closed, by Provincial Order. Our beaches and parks may be used for walk-through purposes only. Patrons must not sit, stand, lay, sunbathe, play, loiter, etc. in or on any Town beach or park. You may cross a beach or park to access the water to swim or boat but you cannot stop on the beach or park. If children want to swim, they must be supervised by someone who is in the water with them. You may not wait and watch over them from the shore. Patrons who use a beach or park for anything other than walking through will be fined under the Town Public Nuisance By-Law. All other rules and by-laws as they relate to parks and beaches continue to apply (ie. no dogs on Sauble Beach, no cooking devices, 4-sided tents etc.) and fines will be levied for breaching by-laws. By-Law Enforcement Officers will be enforcing the provisions of Town by-laws and will exercise zero tolerance. While using beaches and parks, you must social distance and cannot gather in groups of larger than 5, unless from the same physical household (which must be proven). Those are Provincial Orders which remain in full force and effect. Washroom facilities will only be open in Sauble Beach at the Town Square and the Sixth Street Washroom building. Two porta-potties will be open in Bluewater Park in Wiarton. Washrooms will be cleaned twice daily Monday Friday. A full-time attendant will be present on weekends. Patrons are encouraged to limit touching surfaces, wash your hands and wear PPE. Our beaches and parks will be closed if patrons do not follow the Town rules and Provincial Orders and/or the use of these facilities become unsafe. We are doing our best to safely bring Sauble Beach back to life with a gradual or soft opening. We feel this is the best way to transition as we seek to carefully recover from this COVID crisis. We hope that our residents and visitors will adhere to these rules so we may work together to achieve the complete opening of our beaches as soon as possible. Janice Jackson, Mayor Town of South Bruce Peninsula

Municipal leaders of some local municipalities, including those in Northern Bruce Peninsula, South Bruce Peninsula and Saugeen Shores, have expressed concern about the visitors flocking to their natural attractions including trails and beaches during the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been asking those who are not from the area to stay home and are emphasizing that they are welcome back when the situation improves.
