Saugeen Ojibway Nation History 20.10.2020

Honoring and Remembering My Potawatami Ojibway Mishomis/Grandfather.. Bernard Nadjiwon March 10, 1920 - November 21st 2012 A Second World War Veteran. A Front L...ine Radio Signal Man- Anishinabek Code Talker - Canadian Artillery. Over 98% of The Potawatami and Ojibway Men From Neyaashiinigmiing/Cape Croker Volunteered, which was The Highest Enlistment of Canadian Volunteers in History for The Second World War. His Life Expectancy for This Most High Risk Position, Which required him going in Beyond the Front Lines and Radio Signal Back Crucial Enemy Locations and Targets was 20 minutes... Always In Prayer and Guided with Great Spirit Stealth.. He made it through and back, time and time again.. My Grandfather was known for the best rifle shot and tracking skills with nicknames "One Shot Barney" and "Sherlocke" He told me at the Boot Camp, that his Shot was so accurate, the shooting range officers took him to another shooting sniper range and he shot a target that had rarely and almost never been shot before .. He Shot it 3 Times.. Astounded at his Shooting Capacity they had asked him to become a Sniper.. He declined and said "Its Bad Enough Being a Soldier" Most of the Anishinabek Men Volunteered and had Returned. Never Honored, Respected and Remembered as Veterans and Spoken About in Canadian War History, Until Recently, Unfortunately When Most have Already Past On and Died. So much to share and say, simply... My Grandfather Returned Home to The Family and Community, and Continued Work and Educate in Helping Build Bridges with Family and Friends in Traditional and Modern Harvesting, Farming, Fishing, Hunting, Trapping, Carving, Wood Cutting, Hay Fields, and Many Community Work Projects.. Enjoying Life and Raising His Family of 11 Children and Watching His Many Grandchildren and Great Great Grandchildren Grow and Enjoy The Many Freedoms and Rights We Have and Hold Today.. He Lived Strong, Happy, and Healthy for Over 92yrs!! Gitchi Miigwetch!! Love You Mishomis/Grandfather!! We Will Always Remember and Will Never Forget!! XO <3 He had a message for school children: "I urge and ask you young people, pray to God, as you understand him, that they will be soon over all this bloodshed..."
