Our office is still open and able to conduct in-person appointments with the Stay-At-Home order that was announced on January 12, 2021. We will continue to follow our cleaning and screening protocols during this time. Please continue to check our social media pages for any changes we may have to make in the coming weeks. . . . We wanted to remind our patients that we are able to conduct virtual vision therapy appointments as well. If that is something you would like to try, please call or email our office to speak with one of our staff to see if this would be the right fit for you and your family.

If you were asked "what is vision?" what would you say? "Vision is the ability to see clearly across the room." This only describes one aspect of vision, Acuity. However, there is so much more to vision than this.... Consider this: Close your eyes and pick up an object that is near you. What would you be able to describe about that object without looking at it? Is it hard or soft? Is it smooth or rough? Is it heavy or light? Touch is more than a sense that assists you in touching an object and knowing it's there. The same concept is true for vision. Vision is a multi-process sense that is much more complex than "can I see that object in the distance clearly." You need to be able to use both of your eyes in a coordinated manner, be able to focus your eyes as a team and be aware of what is right in front of you as well as what's around you. #saugeenshoresvisiontherapy #visiontherapy #visionvssight #visiontherapychangeslives #whatisvision

Did you know that 80% of what your child learns at school is presented in a visual way? The most common reason for school-aged children to see an optometrist is because they can't see the blackboard, but what about other, less obvious visual symptoms? Children with vision problems could display the following symptoms: -Headaches or eye strain -Blurred or double vision... -A dislike or avoidance of reading -Short attention span when completing near work -Turning or tilting of their head to only use one eye -Closing or covering of one eye -Placing head very close to reading material -Losing their place when reading or needing to rely on a finger or marker to keep their place -Difficulty reading what they just read -Persistent reversal of letters or numbers (past grade 2) -Omitting or repeating words when reading -Confusing similar words on a page -Poor eye/hand coordination If your child exhibits any of these symptoms, they could have a vision related learning problem. How do you find out if this is the case for your child? Contact our office, and we can help answer some of these questions and see if a Binocular Vision Assessment and vision therapy is the right path for your child.

Update for our sister office, Saugeen Shores Family Eye Care! Stay safe out there! #flattenthecurve #saugeenshoresstrong #socialdistancing

Saugeen Shores Vision Therapy Centre 22.06.2020

Even though we are apart physically, doesn't mean that we can't connect with each other. #socialdistancing doesn't mean cutting people out of your life for the time being, it just means that we have to work harder to keep in touch. Pick up the phone and call someone, or make a Skype coffee date to check in. . . . Just because we can't see you in our office, doesn't mean that we can't continue your vision therapy journey. With video messaging services, we are able to conne...ct with you in the comfort of your own home. Virtual vision therapy is a new service that we are offering to all of our existing vision therapy patients during this time. Together, we can slow the spread of #covid19. . . . #saugeenshoresstrong #visiontherapy #virtualvisiontherapy #visiontherapychangeslives See more

When we moved to our new office, one of the many things we missed about being over at Saugeen Shores Family Eye Care was the "Larry Days" and seeing him interact with all of his patients and all of us in the office. He had the uncanny ability to pick up a conversation with his patients as if no time had passed between then and the last time they visited. We will certainly miss him.
