UPDATE for construction on Santa’s Village rd. Mark Misco from the district has said that they are planning on doing Santas Village Road starting of the spring of 2020. Mark did say they are still in the design and planning stages and did say they are planning on putting a bike path in and raising the road at Leslie Drive, where the road floods over often. Saying that, they don’t have much in the way of what’s happening until they get the design submitted with the town. A...t that point he did say there will be plans to have public reveal in the near future. They are trying to keep the road as much as the same as possible but there will definitely be some areas where some trees will have to be removed. Again until they get all the designs together they don’t really know what’s going to happen. Mark did say it will be like South Mary Lake Rd. reconstruction where they utilized different techniques to minimize The footprint. He did say if anyone has any questions they can call him directly at the district. When more information comes up I will post it when it comes. Mark did say they will be having public input in the near future before any road reconstruction starts, as they don’t want to repeat what happened last year when the consultants came out with a final plan where they were going to clear cut everything. Just heard that Santa’s Village rd is being reconstructed this coming spring (6 months). Nothing has been publicly mentioned to any of the residents on the road, yet did see a post that someone, that’s just off Santa’s Village Rd, was told what’s going to happen like paved shoulders, tree cutting and other details. Another Muskoka river tragedy. The river shoreline is being compromised by the floods.

Sad day on Santa’s village rd. There’s so much water saturating the shoreline that the trees gave way and collapsed on the peerless II. The big concern now are the rest of the trees on the Muskoka River watershed, and how long until more of the shore falls into the river.

FYI to all residents on Santa’s Village road. Fibre internet and phone is here and ready for everyone on Santa’s village rd to hook up. Not sure about anybody else on the road but we have been having issues with no Internet and phone for the last 10 months with Cogeco. We go days without Internet until Cogeco comes and fixes it and then it goes out again five days later. We finally can get true 1gb speed Internet now just like in town. I have it at my work and the speed is incredible compared to cable internet. We’re getting hooked up in a couple weeks.
