The Alouette River Management Society’s Save Our Salmon campaign is currently on hold until such a time as we see that the City of Maple Ridge moves on a potential fourth reading of the residential development proposal at the north end of 240th Street on the South Alouette River. Total fundraising efforts from the community to date are: $35,975.83 Total campaign expenses to date are: $3,107.20 (these expenses have been to engage and pay legal counsel for their services on ...this matter) The remaining SOS campaign funds are being held in an internally restricted account in the society’s general bank account. At such a time that the City indicates they are moving ahead with fourth reading for this proposed residential development, ARMS will inform the public of our next steps after we take legal advice. We estimate we will need $60,000 in total if this matter needs to have a judicial review of the City of Maple Ridge’s procedures on this application.

Ask the city to stand up for the South Alouette River by saying no to high density applications in its watershed and instead advocating for a linear park system to protect this heritage river. Email [email protected]

Mike Morden Mayor City of Maple Ridge applauded the news for Kanaka Creek Regional Park while destroying the South Alouette River with density bonusing. It’s great to see these ongoing additions to Kanaka Creek Regional Park that fill in gaps and protect more of the creek corridor’s diverse and scenic landscape, he said. Preserving additional natural lands next to developing urban areas is a win for all as it helps us maintain the livability of the region in the face of rapid growth and climate change. -MRNEWS https://www.mapleridgenews.com//video-maple-ridges-kanaka/ Email [email protected] and ask why he is destroying our heritage river?
