I have always tried to practice gratitude regularly in my life, but certainly more so after traveling to a third world country. Things that once seemed like a human right, are now clear to be a luxury. I stop a little more frequently to remind myself that what I have is far more than enough and some people barely have the creativity to dream up a life like the one you or I live. My first day in India, I asked my tuk tuk driver if he ever thought he would visit Canada. ...He laughed at the idea of ever having the means to travel outside of his home town, let alone to the other side of the world. It was an instant punch of my own ignorance to the face. There are about 700 million people living in extreme poverty. It's easy to lose sight of the important things. I encourage you to bring it back to the basics, and be truly grateful for all those little things that seem so insignificant but are truly lifes luxuries. Today and every day, I give thanks to; Having a hot shower daily, with enough water pressure to actually rinse the shampoo out of my hair. Being able to turn on the tap and fill up a glass with drinkable water, as much as I could ever need or want! Feeling hungry and being able to open a fridge filled with options, and cupboards with even more options. And if these things dont suffice, I can order in or easily go pick something up that better suits the current "need". The ability and means to travel and be educated and humbled. A healthy body, mind and soul that I continue to work on and improve. The use of all 5 senses. A beautiful home, that keeps me warm, safe and comfortable. A vehicle that gives me the freedom to go where I want, when I want. A supportive and loving partner, family and group of friends. A loyal clientele that continue to support me and my business. .....just to name a few! Happy Thanksgiving everyone, may your heart and your tummy be full.
