Super honoured to be a small part of this amazing build from @pyram_builders It was my first time working with hickory but I LOVE the warmth and texture it gave to this dining table. . . #Repost @pyram_builders with @make_repost ... C + C The modern farmhouse exterior of this custom build welcomes you into a grand living space...high ceilings with wood beams and an inviting rock fireplace. The kitchen features the fine workmanship of @toplinecabinetry , with white uppers and black lower cabinets. The wood capped range hood and floating shelves bring added warmth and beauty, and are accompanied by a gorgeous craftsman hand made dining table by @sawdustandsmoke . I LOVE doing custom builds. . . Don’t get me wrong, I work hard to make sure every piece I make exceeds expectations, but when my clients have a specific requirement my job gets just a lil more challenging, and that’s just how I like it. . I love all the character and warmth in this custom dresser with hidden kennel storage. Definitely a favourite.

Pretty little barn door console all finished up. I love ending the week with a completed piece. Always seems to wrap up a Friday so nicely

A little before + after of my entry for a Furniture Flip Challenge. There are still a few details to take care of but I love the transformation.

Making slow but steady progress on my entry for the #furnitureflipchallenge. A couple touch ups left, a wax, and then it’s on to the matching bench. . Now before any of you yell at me about painting a mahogany piano, it was just a veneer, and it was wayyyy beyond saving. . My daughter picked the main colour Whisper from House and Canvas and I used Morning Mist and Angora as accents on the mosaic.

Puzzles always remind me of my Oma. When we were kids, if you had to stay home sick, Mom called Oma, and she had more rules than school. You wanted snacks? Nuhuh. You could have toast or ginger ale. Tea if she was making some. . But she always had a puzzle on the table, sitting on top of a rug with a clear plastic table cloth, in a kitchen that smelled like vinegar. . We’d sit and puzzle. She’d tell me about growing up in Holland and sneaking dried shrimp from the chicken ...feed, or how my uncles almost burnt down the farm throwing matches with between their army men. I learned so much from her while flipping pieces. . These days she probably wouldn’t remember much about helping to raise us. When I get to go visit, she thinks I’m my Mom. But I remember. . We call my daughter Billie. But her full name is Willemina. Just like her great Oma. See more

This piece was pretty special . I built this maple table for my sister’s family last year and drove it across Canada to be home for Christmas. It’s finally been moved into the 150 year old stone farmhouse they restored and is home forever. .... It makes my heart happy to know some of the most important people in my life will have some pretty big moments around that table, even if I can’t be there to see them. See more

64’ of beams installed with a matching mantle last night! My client chose the distressed and stained straps and I’m so happy she did! . Side note.. it’s been a long time since I’ve done that much work over my head! In another life I managed a lighting store and spent all day building and installing fixtures but those muscles have definitely atrophied

There’s gonna be a LOT of throwbacks for a while. Bear with me . One of the reasons I love distressed finishes so much, aside from the way a good sanded edge highlights the shape, is that they just hold up better over time. . Every dent and ding your family inflicts while living life doesn’t stand out as damage. It just adds to the character of a perfectly distressed piece. ... . So bring on the scuffs and scrapes. Your kids slam their cups down too hard? No problem. Bench get used as a ramp for monster trucks? All good. It’s all just gonna blend together anyway See more

Whenever I can, I double-side my barn doors. Life is too short for things that look good from the kitchen but are bad in the bedroom.

This flag is not perfect. I made a lot of mistakes with it early on. But it’s gonna improve. I’m gonna improve. I know where I went wrong and I’ll get a little better every day. . I’m still proud of it. Just like I’m proud of this country. So very thankful for a place where there’s always room to grow Love you Canada, and love you Canadians

My happy place is on the water. Boat. Canoe. Inner tube. I don’t care. If I can fish it or float it, I’m down. . So naturally I moved to a place with very little of that. This piece is just a little something to take me back to my happy place while travel isn’t an option.

Is a week enough time for a #throwbackthursday ? I don’t care. Doing it anyway. . All the for this modern farmhouse hickory table in it’s forever home.
