OUR VERY OWN GOT HITCHED! December 27, 2020 So. We did a little thing. I mean...it’s a BIG thing!!!... but it was little because it was smaller then we could have imagined. If I’ve learned anything about 2020, it’s been to let go and let God. ... It was a beautiful day. *Actually, it was POURING rain and freezing cold, but it didn’t matter. My Dad walked me down that muddy aisle, while I listened to my uncle play for us. My dress lasted 11 seconds before it was muddy but meh! I think my veil fell of mid vows? We were 40 min behind and Riel was drenched. But he was the most beautiful man I had ever seen. We had a list of people we wanted to be there. That kept getting smaller and smaller until it was just parents and siblings. But technology meant family could watch from the warmth of their sofas. So, our little thing is going to be a big thing next year. But right now, this lil lady of OFFICIALLY off the market and rockin a new last name. Please welcome Mr and Mrs Bertrand. We went from a big wedding, to a small surprise wedding, to a medium non surprise wedding in one venue to another then back when covid struck. ALL IN ALL WE GOT THESE TWO DOWN THE AISLE! ... Today, we celebrate Cassidy Cooper who has been recognised with prestigious, national #EvaMarkvoort Award for Cystic Fibrosis Volunteer Leadership. We were so ...pleased that Bill Markvoort, Evas father, was able to present the award to Cassidy. Thanks to the Tri-City News for publishing this article: https://www.tricitynews.com//port-coquitlam-woman-earns-na Eva Markvoort was a young woman from New Westminster who passed away from cystic fibrosis at the age of 25. She blogged about her life, family and experiences, including undergoing a lung transplant and her subsequent transplant rejection that was also part of a documentary film about her life called "65_Redroses." She left a legacy of love and made a difference in the lives of thousands of people both in her personal life and in her online community. The Eva Markvoort Leadership Award recognises an individual between the ages of 20 and 35 years of age who has displayed outstanding leadership and made an exceptional, inspirational and motivational contribution to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. I was struck by some of the common characteristics shared by both Cassidy and Eva, said Bill Markvoort. Both started volunteering early on. And both had the exceptional ability to pull others into their orbit to assist in the CF cause. Whether it was helping at the Gala, event organizing at the CF office, joining in the CF walk, Christmas carolling for CF or later on in organizing Lawn Summer Nights, both young women showed an unwavering sense of purpose. Eva and Cassidy were both drawn to the visual arts. Eva attended and graduated in the theatre program at UVic culminating in her documentary role in 65_Red Roses about her journey through transplant, and Cassidy is graduating this year from Capilano College having produced and directed a film about CF.
