Ahhh this girl Ally was my assistant these last couple months, helping me with Say It with Stacey She was a fast learner, always happy, always aiming to please. We talked a lot while working and she saw the 'behind the scenes chaos' in the studio where I make all the magic happen; and she never judged me I'd look forward to her smiling face every day; and even my dogs looked forward to her arrival. It is with mixed feelings that I announce her resignation as she has acc...epted a permanent full time position in her field of study starting in January. I knew it was coming because she asked if I could be a reference, and no joke, after I was done singing Ally's praises, I said, "You'd be incredibly lucky to get Ally, and you better treat her well, cause employment is a two way street". I know that was kind of ballsy to say, but after 25 years of working for others, I discovered that revelation on my own. I had experienced the full spectrum of bosses. I had two really, bad, horrible abusive bosses, but thankfully ended my career with the best boss ever." It is my hope that I mentored Ally and passed along some lessons she can take with her, even if our time together was short. Passion project for sure. With all my childhood memories filled with horrendous scenes of domestic violence, I’m so grateful that the universe led me to my job with Family Transition Place. It also came at the right time in life, because prior to my start of my time working there from 2009-2019 as Manager of Development & Community Relations, I just wanted to keep that chapter of my life closed. It was too painful to think about and re-live. ... There were many days where I found the work too hard, and every year there was a particular fundraising event where I would come home and cry in secrecy because that story was so painful for me and it triggered many terrible memories. But the good outweighed the bad, always. And, I often found myself doing a self-pep talk; reframing my story to know that I was making a difference. The little girl that I once was, became a strong, resilient woman who could empower others to end violence against women. And resigning from that position was a tough choice, but, I wanted to live my entrepreneurial dream before it was too late. I also know that this work is important to many of you. Many of you have shared that you were once upon a time a client under their care, and what a difference it made in your life. Thank you for that. I will always be bound under the umbrella of confidentiality of working there, so your information is safe with me; unless you want to share. I respect both choices. I am so honoured to support @Family Transition Place in the work they do, along with my stellar, and amazing ex-colleagues who do this really hard work every day. I am beyond overjoyed that I figured out a good way to do this through Say it with Stacey and that you choose to support me in my efforts. Thank you everyone.

For those that have been following Say it with Stacey for awhile, you may remember I posted about my west highland terrier needing a cruciate repair. It is a major, painful surgery and very unpleasant. (I know, cause I've had both my knees done too) Thanks to the stellar team at Caledon Mountain Veterinary Hospital Rooney has had a fast recovery. Their TPLO method and Dr. John's expertise has made this surgery recovery so much faster than his other knee done 4 years ago bu...t a different hospital. Surgery was just over a month ago, and my spunky boy is doing so well, I feel it was safe to get him groomed. Jessica from No Faux Paws did an excellent job and went above and beyond the call of duty yesterday, delivering him home for me while I was at a can't-be-missed Dr's appt. What does Stacey do when people go above and beyond the call of duty? Gift them a special treat, of course! Check out the mug I made for Jess, personalized with her business name, and a character to match her scrubs and her hair colour Jessica isn't on FB (I know, I don't understand either ) so its safe to post.
