LENTEN RETREAT SATURDAY, APRIL 11 2020 The 5th annual Lenten Retreat originally planned for April 4th at St. Wilfred’s Roman Catholic Church was cancelled due... to the pandemic. However, inspired by our General Secretary Mallory Wijesinghe, the retreat was moved to an electronic platform on April 11th which was supported by Varathan Pathmanathan and Kevin Rosairo. The retreat was presented, as originally planned, by Bishop John Corriveau, a retired Bishop. He has several theological publications to his credit and from 1994 to 2006 he was domiciled in Rome as the worldwide head of the Capuchins. He now works at the St Francis Table in Toronto. The program started at 10.00 am. with the topic - Conversion: Living our Baptism, followed by the recitation of the Rosary, and the discussion topic The Cross: The mystery of Compassionate Love. After a short break the program continued with the discussion topic The Church: The Inspired Word, followed by the Stations of the Cross and the final topic Our Mission: Transforming Love. There was plenty of time between topics which provided for discussion and a leisurely day of reflection. There were more than 30 active connections, which could mean much more participants huddled together as family around computer or other electronic device. The electronic platform was handled flawlessly by Kevin and Varathan who were also able to stream beautiful ‘church’ music between presentations reaching our homes and hearts. In fact the facilitator, Bishop John Corriveau rated their technical expertise as ‘excellent’. Here are some of the comments: ...It was very inspiring and I personally enjoyed it very much. I want to thank everyone who worked hard to have it without giving up because we pleased our GOD Almighty and defeated the negatives. May our risen LORD JESUS raise up everyone in SBCAAC and keep all in HIS love and care .... Shirani. ...Please thank the association and team for giving us the opportunity to join in prayer during this very trying times. May God Bless each and everyone and Easter blessings to you all.... Alsace. The Association thanks you for your participation. Gaston Rodrigo Social Secretary.
