It is important to us that while our students are training at home, they are being safe! Here are a few helpful pointers and guidelines to follow for at home Acro training: -clean an area of furniture to ensure you won’t run into anything -make sure you are taking class on a solid surface in bare feet -have a yoga mat or Acro mat handy ... -if you don’t have a mat at home you can use a small firm pillow for skills like head stands -try to take class in an area of your home where you have access to an empty wall for stretches, wall sits, and hand stands -have all accessories (yoga blocks, stretch bands etc.) and a water bottle on hand so you don’t need to leave the room during class -never train outside of your comfort level or safety level at home -be patient with your teacher and yourself...we are training for maintaining...we will get back to new skills and more difficult content once we can be safely back in person with instructors Everyone is doing a great job and seeing smiling faces from students each day brightens our week! Since August our studio has offered over 840 classes to 200+students with 0 cases! Some of the protocals implemented in our studio include: -distanced training and staggered classes for non cohort students -cohort programs for designated teams under 30 students -sanitization of entire classrooms in between ALL classes... -masks in public areas and worn by teachers -stay at home practices for ALL students with ANY symptoms, even non Covid related -individual training equipment brought to class by students (no communal training equipment) -full studio sanitization spray used every evening -electrostatic sanitization of full studio 2-3 times a week -2 door entry system while utilizing two classrooms (each classroom has its own entrance from outside of the building) -parents and additional bodies not permitted in building -hand sanitization for everyone upon entering building and before exiting -no common space for non cohort students to mingle or socialize -3rd studio designated as holding room for distancing students and transitioning classes This is just to list a few! Our staff and dance families, like so many others in the fine arts community, are going above and beyond to offer safe practice dance training. As a community we are working together through constant, and in this instance, immediate protocal changes with no warnings, complying as graciously and quickly as possible. Online classes continue this evening. An email has been sent out to all Tuesday evening clients with Zoom codes and a slight shift to the schedule as, at the moment, we do not need to accommodate staggered classes for sanitization. Please check your email! Tips for online Tap: -the back of a sturdy chair makes for a great make shift barre... -an old piece of plywood or leftover hard surface flooring will help as a classroom floor replacement and save the floors at home -putting a pair of thick socks over tap shoes gives the dancer the feel of their shoe without wrecking your floors at home -try to hold your feet still when your teacher is talking or demonstrating so you can hear her through your computer -be patient with yourselves, tap can be frustrating in person and difficult without hands on correction. Stay calm and your teacher will help you -dress for success; wearing your regular classroom attire will make you feel more focused! Gear up, online classes start this evening at SBDC. A scheduled email reminder of all Zoom codes and passwords has been sent to all Monday dance families. Things to think about: -dress for class as you would if you were coming in person -find a quiet space at home for your set up and clear as many objects out of the way as possible... -make sure you have a water bottle near by and any equipment you may need for a class - a hard back chair works as a make shift barre in a pinch - make sure your zoom is set to mute so you can hear your teacher rather than classmates - be patient and kind to yourself and your teachers Although online is not ideal, as a team we will make it work! Stay focused and give yourselves a break; showing up is step 1! We are so proud to work with such a positive and kind community of dancers and parents and we will all make it through together.

Don’t forget-it’s time to dress up for class . We invite all of our Recreational and Pre Competitive (Cohort 3) dancers to wear their Halloween costumes to class this week. Although we cannot hand out candy this year, we will ensure all students have a spooktacular time!

We are so excited to be offering another Preschool Dance option for new students to our studio. We have cleared our wait list and have room for four more dancers in this new Thursday evening class for students ages 3-5. Students explore Jazz, Ballet, and Acro technique in the form of guided steps, creative movement and classroom games. Our staff has worked hard to make sure these safe, socially distanced, smaller classes are still engaging and can’t wait to get your little one moving and shaking!
