Hypersensitive kids can be hard to understand. Parents can sometimes figure out why their child is upset but in new situations and with new caregivers, it can be really tough! For a lot of hypersensitive kids, melt-downs happen when they get overwhelmed by sensory stimulation or by the demands of the task. OTs can help sort out the layers of sensory information that the child is trying to manage and provide strategies to help them cope. Need help with your hypersensitive child? Consider OT assessment and intervention - today!

Sensory seekers are really struggling right now! Between pandemic restrictions and cold winter days, they aren't getting the sensory stimulation they're used to and that they need to function well - especially being stuck indoors all day with online learning and working-from-home parents. If your child is bouncing off the walls or your days are punctuated with frequent melt-downs because they just can't focus, reach out for some OT support. OTs can provide assessment of senso...ry needs and challenges. We give strategies to help meet those needs safely, so that attention and focus improve and function in daily life gets easier. Reach out for help - together, we got this! . . . . . . . #sensoryprocessingdisorder #ADHD #autism #autismawareness #autismOT #spdconcepts #spdawareness #pedsot #paediatricoccupationaltherapy #nomoremeltdowns See more

Feeding challenges? Is your child having a hard time transitioning from purees to textured foods? Are they very picky or selective about what they will eat, so you are worried about their growth and nutrition? Do they have complex feeding challenges that are sensory in nature, so that they eat only foods of a certain texture, temperature, colour or flavour? I have worked with many children with feeding challenges and can help sort out what is actually happening for your child. There may be more going on than just a "picky eater". Send me a message and let's work together to help your child to progress in their feeding!

Wheelchair needs - Does your adult son or daughter, or do you personally, have complex seating and mobility needs and use a wheelchair to get around? Are you no longer able to use the Seating Clinic services of the local children's treatment center because you've aged out? Are you looking for someone with years of experience assessing bodies that move and sit differently due to high/low muscle tone, scoliosis, etc.? If that's you, please contact me! I have worked for several years with children and young adults with simple to complex seating needs. I work well with individuals, families and vendors to put together the equipment and seating system that is best for the client. Please send me a message today!

"Sensory kid" - is this a term you've used or heard used about your child? Do you need some help sorting out what that means and how to help your "sensory kid" to understand their sensory challenges and strengths? Occupational therapists are trained to help sort out this area of development and to provide strategies to assist with regulation, calming and focus. Let me help you to understand this very important area of functioning and your child/youth to be as independent and functional as possible! Send me a message today and book a consultation time so we can chat!

Do it today! If you are considering OT services for you or your child/youth, send me a message! I offer a free 30 min. initial phone consultation so you can describe your or your child's/youth's challenges and I can tell you what I can offer. By the end of the conversation we will determine whether it's a good fit so that appointments can be booked or I can suggest someone else who might be a better match for you. Schedule that first 30 minute phone call and let's chat!
