Sunshine Coast Chinook Swimclub 06.01.2021

Congratulations to Eloise Allen who achieved her Junior national/Olympic Trials time this weekend in 200 Breaststroke with a time of 2:42.33 and placed first. Eloise also placed first in 100 Backstroke (1:07.05) and in 100 Breaststroke (1:15.82). Way to go Eloise!

Sunshine Coast Chinook Swimclub 20.09.2020

The Chinook Swim Club attended Lower Mainland Regional Championships this past weekend at Watermania. Swimmers qualified for this meet with age specific 200 Individual Medely qualifying times. Swimmers that attended this meet were Eloise Allen, Ava Hynd, Francis Allen, Keira Hynd, Rory Scott, Robert VanLuven and Noah Grant-Byrnes. All athletes performed personal bests. Some of the highlights from the meet were as follows: Eloise Allen (15) achieved 4 gold medals in 100 fly...(1:05.88, 19 and over provincial time), 400 free(4:40.37, 15-18 provincial time), 200 fly(2:36.43, 15-18 provincial time), and 200 free(2:11.45, 15-18 provincial time). Noah Grant-Byrnes(17) achieved a Gold medal in 50 free(26.43, 15-18 provincial time 16-18), and a Bronze in 200 Breast (3:03.25) and 100 Backstroke (1:10.32) Ava Hynd (13) achieved gold medals in 200 BK (2:36.18, provincial time 13-14 yr) and in 100 Bk (1:10.83, provincial time 15-16yr). She also achieved a bronze medal in 50 free (29.38). Rory Scott (14), achieved gold medals in 400 Individual Medley(5:10.67, 16-18 provincial time), and in 200 Fly (2:32.4716-18 provincial time). He also achieved a Silver Medal in 200 Backstroke with a time of (2:28.00, 16-18 provincial time) and a bronze medal in 200 BR (2:49.3915 and under provincial time), Congratulations to all of the swimmers in attendance. Your success is a direct reflection of your dedication to the sport.

The Chinook Swim Club had a fantastic meet at the VPSC Invitational at UBC. We had a total of 18 swimmers attend the meet over two days. Six of the swimmers from our Novice learn to swim program in attendance were Stella Hudec, Lexee Rowland, Nadia and Nora Hynd, Siena Good, and Mila Swinney. These six swimmers showed a dramatic improvement in technique which was demonstrated by best times all around. Way to go Novice swimmers! The Junior, Senior and Provincial team also ...put on a stellar performance. Swimmers in attendance were Robert Van Luvan, Shahvir and Rohan Zack, Ava and Keira Hynd, Eloise and Francis Allen, Aja Allen, Sophie Kitson, Noah Grant-Byrnes, Maddison Goldsmith and Rory Scott. Swimmers performed a majority of best times which is fantastic for this early in the season. Some of the highlights from the meet were: Noah Grant-Byrnes(16)-3rd in 200 Back, 2:37.09, 1st in 50 Back 32.02, 4th in 50 free 26.67, Ava Hynd(12)-1st in 100 free 1:03.96, 2nd in 50 back 33.56, 1st in 50 free 29.06(Provincial Time), 1st in 100 backstroke 1:12.06, 1st in 50 fly 31.60 Rory Scott(14)- Rory went 5:07.54 in 400 free which qualifies him to attend a distance meet this weekend in Richmond to swim the 800 free. Eloise Allen(15)-3rd in 100 fr with a time of 59.64 which is a new club record. 3rd in 200 BK 2:24.63, 2nd in 50 Bk 30.09, 1st in 100 Breast 1:15.84(Provincial Time for 19 and over), 3rd in 50 free 27.29, 400 free 4:47.93, 4th in 100 back 1:05.81(Provincial Time 19 and over), 1st in 50 fly 29.25., 100 Fly 1:07.50 (Provincial Time) Congratulations again to everyone in attendance at this meet. The coaches are so proud of everything you have accomplished! Your hard work is paying off!
