The Province has proclaimed October as Community Inclusion Month. How to celebrate and raise awareness on Community Inclusion in the middle of a pandemic? How about a virtual video festival? First offering: check out this inspiring and witty episode of "You Can't Ask That" on CBC Gem. You have to download the free app but it's an amazing series that breaks down many stereotypes of people with diverse abilities. Happy screening! #CommunityInclusionMonth #CommunityInclusion #SCACLme

Mary shows us how she's dealing with the heat wave. How about you? How are you coping with the recent heat? #scaclme #CommunityInclusion
July has seen our Community Inclusion programming start back up... a little adapted to meet Dr. Bonnie Henry’s fewer faces, bigger spaces recommendations. Some badminton fun on this day. Another great week ahead- be sun smart everyone! #slipslopslap #hydrate
An Oscars-deserving improv this morning when the sudden flash downpour clogged the eavestrough causing a waterfall scene right outside Day Program. Thanks Jodie for the super-entertaining performance!
June's farewell tour pictures... Wishing Kody the best and hoping he drops by to visit every once in a while. #friends

Here is a video "A Year in Review" shown at the virtual Annual General Meeting held earlier today. Due to restrictions on the size of gatherings, SCACL was not able to hold our usual AGM and barbecue this year. An electronic copy of the 2020 Annual Report will be available on our website soon. If you want to watch a recording of the whole AGM, please contact the Executive Director for a video link. https://youtu.be/CaZxzDQIcI4
SCACL has witnessed closely how challenging it is for some of the individuals we support to make ends meet living on the current rate of disability assistance. We invite you to consider supporting this grassroots effort to petition our government to: 1. Maintain the $300/month increase to income and disability assistance rates; 2. Permanently raise income assistance rates further to at least the poverty line, indexed to inflation; 3. Ensure that increases to income assistance and disability assistance include a clear, earmarked increase to the shelter portion. Click the link to see how you may participate in the #300ToLive campaign.
Happy National Indigenous Peoples Day from all of us at SCACL! We are so grateful to be serving on the traditional territory of the shishalh Nation! We look forward to promoting and reflecting on #CommunityInclusion drawing on the wisdom of indigenous traditional teachings. #NationalIndigenousPeoplesDay
