Last week during our Christian education series "What is church membership?" we discussed the question, What is the "standard" for membership? Who gets in? The answer is, Christians! "Churches must not look for the people who are never jerks, but for the people who admit they are jerks and are willing to fight it." - Jonathan Leeman, Church Membership. To access the full material on this series, or if you want to join this class, contact [email protected]. Next meeting... will be this Sunday at 2pm on zoom. See you then! . -Jonathan Leeman [email protected] 2 #sccefc #sccefcsundayschool

Last weekend Pastor Randy took us through Paul and Barnabas' dispute in Acts 15: 36-41, his sermon titled: When Worlds Collide. Where was God in all this when Paul and Barnabas' world collided and parted ways in their ministry? Does God not give oversight in everything and take care of all the details? In this strong disagreement was God sleeping? Was he surprised or at a loss? No! God's mercy was covering Paul and Barnabas even in this dispute. In the end God chose to... use this situation to start another missionary journey through Barnabas. God used this situation for his good. What about us and our struggles and situations. What should we do when our worlds are colliding between colleagues, friends, spouse, etc.? How do we deal when we come into dispute with someone? 1) Check your facts. 2) Check your ego. God calls us to be humble. 3) Check your faith. Look to Jesus for wisdom and humility. Maybe say nothing. Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent. Are you going through a strong disagreement with someone? Pray that God will give you wisdom. Praying that instead of being prideful that God can help you be humble. If you missed last week's sermon, not to worry! You can watch it on our SCCEFC Youtube channel. Have a safe and blessed week! . . . . . #sccefc #sccefcsundayservice #sccefcsermonquotes

Last Sunday Pastor Adriel preached from Acts 15 where a debate on circumcision ensues and the passages take us to the Council of Jerusalem. Adriel's sermon is titled: The Gift of Gospel Centred Leaders. The 3 takeaways were: 1) Church needs to be led by the Holy Spirit. 2) The early church wasn't picture perfect. It was marred with hard decisions, disagreements, differences and debates yet what we learn is the people of the church emerged united from it.... 3) Pray for our leaders! What is your current view of good leadership? In what ways have been impacted by leaders either negative or positively? Who are some of the most respected leaders in your life? What qualities make them great leaders? How does the Biblical leadership differ from the way in which the world views leadership? This week take a few minutes each day to pray for our past, present and future leaders. Pray that they will be gospel-centred in all they do and that their leadership will ultimately point others to Jesus Christ. Don’t forget about your pastors! If you missed Sunday’s sermon you can watch it on our SCCEFC Youtube channel. May you be wrapped in God's love and warmth this week! . . . . . #sccefc #sccefcsundayservice

Pastor Calvin preached this weekend that obedience is inconvenient. Ministries are not convenient. Missions are not convenient activities. Paul had to experience endurance, hard work and obedience during his ministry. Paul chose to serve knowing that sacrifice is needed. The English Pastors' prayer is that you will receive a vision and mission of where God wants to lead you - that the leaders in our church share and work toward a dream. They are praying for leaders who ...don't just dial it in but who are alive! So take some serious time this week to pray about where God is calling you today. Remember that as we pray for an answer chances are God will use you and move you. Prayer is action and prayer often leads us to acts of service. Be ready to act as he opens doors and as other brothers and sisters affirm your gifting. If you are struggling to obey, seek out a prayer partner from your life group, pastors or mentors. Share your struggle, the questions and the cost you may need to obey. If you missed yesterday's sermon you can check it out on SCCEFC's youtube channel. Have a blessed and healthy week - and get well soon Pastor Calvin!!! . . . . . #sccefc #sccefcsundayservice #sccefcsermonseries

During the second week of our Christian Education series "What is Church Membership?", we learned what the New Testament has to say about church membership: 1. The church's very existence is unified around the message of a Savior and Lord. 2. Christians are united to local but interconnected churches. 3. Christians collectively identify themselves as churches.... 4. Christians possess a special power and corporate identity when formally assembled. 5. The first step of the Christian life is baptism - always. 6. Christians are commanded to separate themselves and to not formally associate themselves with the world. 7. The life and the authority of the local church shapes and orients the lives of its members. 8. Christian leaders are responsible for specific sheep. 9. Christians are responsible to submit to certain leaders. 10. Christians exclude false professors from their fellowship. For more information about this series or if you would like to register, contact [email protected]. Classes are every Sunday on ZOOM at 2pm from now until Nov 29th. If you are baptized and interested in becoming a member, you can start the application process here http://sccefc.ca/church-r/application-forms/membership-form . . . . . #sccefc #sccefcsundayschool

Check out this motley crew. This is Pastor Calvin's life group led by Kenneth Ho and it ranges from singles, to married couples to the newly engaged! Not only have they been a Life Group for more than 6 years they've become good friends and each other's support. What is a Life Group, you might ask? Since it's impossible to get to know everyone in our church family, it is essential we break into smaller groups so we can all belong to a tribe! Life groups are small group gat...herings who meet on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis, depending on what your group decides. Our life groups meet to fellowship, eat, study the Bible, and pray - done socially distanced or virtually, of course! If you are looking for a life group to join this year, Grouplink is the event for you! Whether you are looking for a group with singles, families or mixed, we will introduce you to all our life group leaders and help you connect to a group that best fits you! This event will be a hybrid event, which means you can attend in-person at church, or online with ZOOM! It will be held on Saturday, October 24 at 7:30pm.
