Something I want to share (warning long post ahead). We are in a dangerous time for buying new products. The amount of scalpers buying up product pre orders and then selling it to you at a huge mark up. Example: The new Xbox Series X is $599.99. I just saw a Facebook Marketplace posting and he is asking $1000. Do not buy from these people. It encourages them to do it again. This is just like the NES and SNES mini consoles that came out a few years ago. They buy them for $...100 and then sell them for $400 because people seem to get desperate enough and need to have thing NOW. If something is sold out there is a good chance more are coming. These new consoles both Playstation and Xbox are not going to be limited sales. They will be available for the next 4 years. Is your child begging you to get one for Christmas? This may be a good time for a life lesson that good things come to those that wait. That the world will not end because they can't play it yet. The thing to understand right now is that due to this Pandemic shipping these items from overseas is taking longer now. More stock will come. You just have to wait. If they can't wait then maybe a PC could be a solution. If you are willing to spend the $1000 you have a good start to a gaming PC. Already have an older one that needs a little refresh. You can be surprised how far $300 can go to getting more out of what you already have. I have a customer upgrade post coming shortly that is a perfect example. 14 year old that wants to play Fortnite, but the current motherboard and processor are not up to the task. A budget motherboard, processor and ram package from Aliexpress is fixing that problem. I haven't done all the testing yet but so far he should be able to play at high settings with more than 60fps which is better looking quality than any other current platform. Also adding an SSD to speed up load times. Stay tuned.

This week I had a laptop that needed cleaning and a repaste. The idle temps before were above 50C which is high. This puts extra wear on the cpu and brings the temps to max on load really easily usually around 85C. At max temp the cpu will slow down to save itself. After cleaning and repaste temps are down to 40C and top out at 75C. No worries about throttling. The new paste has a use live of up to 8 years. The iPad needed a new screen as another place put in a bad screen as a replacement. Old digitizer (what sees your touches) barely worked. New one works perfectly. Just a reminder that all laptop and game console clean and repaste is only $20. Desktops are up to $40 (due to more fans and size).

iPad 5 screen replacement. I always recommend a case that has some form of drop protection. This replacement cost them $95 parts and labour.
