Optometrists are proud to deliver high quality, and accessible eye care but eye care in Ontario is at serious risk right now. Everyone knows how badly COVID-19 has strained our health care workers and decimated local businesses. Ontario’s optometrists are both. Now, as some businesses reopen their doors, many optometrists may be forced to close theirs or drastically reduce their services. For 30 years, previous governments neglected to invest in eye care so OHIP now onl...y covers half the cost of an eye exam. Optometrists subsidize the rest. On a personal note, I’ve made myself available to any and all of my patients who have required extra care over the past 12 years. Opening the clinic for urgent care after hours, house calls, visits to nursing homes and spent hours advocating for patients when it’s needed most. I have always ensured that my patients receive the care I would like to see my own family receive. If quality eye care is important to you I ask that you take 2 minutes to visit https://saveeyecare.ca/ and lend your support to myself and other Ontario optometrists by adding your name to an open letter to the government of Ontario. Take care, stay safe. :) See more
Getting the hang of this. All regulations in place and then some. Including guards, masks, reduced waiting, patient screening, scattered sanitary stations, equipment upgrades. Same great service. Same great care. Open for business. Please call 5193268413 to schedule your appointment. @ Dr. Steve Schiefer, Optometrist

Due to the recent COVID-19 pandemic we are currently not performing regular eye exams. We are re-evaluating the current situation every day. We hope that you understand. We ask for your continued support throughout this difficult time in our world. Beyond the scope of optometry we just hope for the well-being of everyone. #covid_19 #coronaviruscananda #leamingtoneyedoctor #drsteveschiefer #patientsareournumberonepriority #staysafe
80% of learning in the classroom is visual. A comprehensive pediatric eye exam can detect issues that could affect your child’s ability to learn.
January is Glaucoma Awareness month. Glaucoma is a group of eye diseases. It comes without symptoms. It gradually steals sight without warning. Although the most common forms primarily affect the middle-aged and the elderly, glaucoma can affect people of all ages. The only way to diagnose glaucoma is with an eye exam. Make sure you don’t let Glaucoma rob you of your sight. Make an appointment to have your comprehensive eye exam. .........................#januaryisglaucomaawarenessmonth #drsteveschiefer #leamingtoneyedoctor #eyehealth
"We will GLADLY provide no-cost eye exams to all NFL officials prior to next season to prevent the atrocity that occurred tonight. We would hate for someone else to feel our pain."
Have you participated in the 10 year challenge? Do you find yourself holding your phone further away so you can read that important text? Changing the font is only a temporary fix. It isn’t uncommon for your vision to change near the age of 40. The lenses in our eyes become less flexible making it difficult to focus. A vision correction may be required. #drsteveschiefer #leamingtoneyedoctor #eyehealth #2020vision #letushelpyouseebetter
Having headaches? Episodes of blurred vision? It could be that your eye muscles are more prone to strain. There are simple tests for this performed during an eye health exam.
Friday the 16th is a PA/PD day for many of our local schools. Call to schedule your child's eye examination. Hope to "see" you soon!
