"I graduated from BCIT with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and an Advanced Specialty in Emergency Nursing Certificate in November 2018. I thoroughly enjoyed the course content of the Emergency Specialty program finding not only that the courses are relevant to my practice, but I also received credit for the knowledge and experience I had gained over 20 years working as an Emergency Nurse. It was nice to have my practical experience acknowledged and counted toward the degre...e I earned. At this point in my career, having recently moved into a formal leadership position as a Professional Practice Specialist for the Emergency Department, I found the courses on Management Skills and Applications, Creative Leadership and Professional Growth very helpful in understanding how to develop my own style of leadership. I gained important knowledge in how to review and interpret research studies and the quality of research results through the Systematic Inquiry course. This is especially important to adopting and embedding best practices in my current workplace. The support I received from the Instructors in this program was excellent; despite learning online through the distance education program, I felt connected to my classmates and teachers. I would highly recommend the Specialty Degree Program to anyone interested in furthering their nursing career." Heather Leonard, RN BScN https://www.bcit.ca/study/programs/specialtynursingbsn
