The Whakanui bloodline, pronounced fock-a-new-ee, was first imported in 2010 from New Zealand with several other bloodlines. Whakanui means to celebrate, magnif...y, boost, or glorify in the Maori language. Cedric, the first Whakanui, is black and white with double wattles. He still resides at Tule Fog Farm. Cedric, who was named after his sire in New Zealand, was an inspected boar with no herd book history. Cedric’s dam, Pita Tulip, has traceable lineage going back several generations. Originally due to the unconfirmed pedigree of Cedric’s sire and that New Zealand no longer performs DNA tests on imports, AKKPS decided that only Whakanui kunekune that had US second generation pedigrees could be registered. It’s been a busy few days but all the piglets, pigs, cows, horses, & ponies are doing well in the cold snap (insert Alberta pig friends laughing at our -8 here ) The barn is buttoned up tight so we are staying wind free inside and not to cold! Asked Santa for a Fitbit this Christmas Today around lunch I finally decided I had time to set it up. I then headed out to the barn for a light 2 hours of chores. Before I headed out the setup told me I should aim for about 10,000 steps a day - I thought to myself that’s pretty realistic! 2.5 hours later on a light day of chores my whole arm is vibrating apparently this Fitbit has a party when you hit 10k for the day #fitbitsaintgotnothingonfarmgirls
