You might be thinking that MORE mosquitoes has to be the worst idea youve heard today. What if it could save thousands of lives a year? These mosquitoes have been genetically engineered to help combat the amount of people who are infected with life threatening illnesses from being bitten by mosquitoes each year. Only female mosquitoes bite and drink blood. The mosquitoes that are being released are all male. The purpose of the genetic modification is that the male mosquitoes... will mate with the female mosquitoes and create offspring that will have slim chances of survival. Over time this will reduce the amount of mosquitoes overall and the amount of mosquitoes that are carriers of dangerous diseases.
